    Help me out here...

I think I'm going to have to return this game. I'm just getting so frusterated with pitching. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm always giving up way too many hits in a game. I mean every single game I'm giving up 10+ hits, probably 15 on average. I just gave up 19 hits and 9 runs in one game with one pitcher.

The problem is I know how to pitch. I've known how to pitch in every ASB every year. 2002 gave me a ton of problems with pitching, and I stopped playing it after about a month, but in 2003 I can ace the teams on rookie. And that's my idea of rookie difficulty level. If you want to give up 10 hits once in every 30 games and get a ton of k's, go with rookie. But that's not the case with this game. I've only had this game for less then a week, but there is absolutely no reason why I should be having as much trouble as I'm having.

A particularly good example was with the 2nd scerio involving the Mets. I was supposed to take the lead and finish out the game with a win. So I took the lead with 2 runs in the 6th. They tied it in the 7th. I took a 1 run lead in the 9th. They tied it. I took a 7 run lead in the 11th. I thought I had it won. But no. They came back 7 runs cutting through Armando Benetez, Mark Guthrie, and Al Leiter, all of whom were fully warmed up when they entered. They hit everything. Cold zone, hot zone, fastballs away, fastballs up and in, changeups away, curves down in the zone, everything. So I took the lead again in the 14th by a run. Then they tied it again. Then they hit a grand slam home run to win it. I'm just so frusterated. If I can't find some sort of winning strat to pitching I'm going to return this game.

Please, someone convince me not to.

Try this pitching scheme (vs. right hander, vs. left handers reverse it).

    x-fastballs----------x-changeups
    l-----------------------l
    l-----------------------l
x-any in breaking pitches (left handed pitcher)
l----------------------x-any out breaking pitches (right handed pitcher)
    l-----------------------l
    l-----------------------x-change-ups here (sometimes sneak fastballs)
l-----------------------l<-down breaking pitches like curves and splitters
x-start four-seamers below the zone. They'll rise back in the zone and pass the batter for a strike unnoticed (sometimes).

If there's a hot spot in the position, don't throw there. If you want to fake the batter, try having a breaking pitch start on his hot zone, then have it break towards the cold zone or off the k-zone.

I'll try that out. I dunno, it seems that I shouldn't have to follow any formula, that I could go with the strenghts of the pitchers and the weaknesses of the batters and go after each individual player. But nothing has worked. I stil think I'll be returning this for in store credit and just play asb2003 for another year... or just get world series baseball.

I've edited it... I left out something that may be useful.
