    Angels no-hitter attempt

    Interesting situation in LA.

Dodgers lead the Angels 1-0 in the 8th inning, they scored on an error + bad throw + steal + sac fly, and Jered Weaver was then pinch hit for in the 7th. No hitter still good through 8 innings.

Thoughts on Scioscia pinch hitting for Weaver?

Not surprised he took him out. Desperate to get the run in. I think would be like the fifth no hitter loss in last century.

Last two nights offense has been ****.

    Not over yet.

I think it's legit. He has to do what helps the team win the most.

I remember the Braves having a combined no-hitter like 15 years ago.

Yup, getting the win is the most important thing.

Astros did it to the Yankees a few years ago.

I guess it's not even a no hitter since the Angels pitchers didn't record 27 outs.

Nope. Doesn't count as one. One of the weirdest line scores I have ever seen

Hm...I think something similar happened to the Expos in like 1990 vs the Dodgers. The game went 10 innings though.

Interesting game, I found this about pitchers having a no-hitter and losing the game, only happened once

"On April 23, 1964, Ken Johnson of the Houston Colt 45's became the only pitcher to lose a complete game no-hitter in nine innings when he was beaten 1-0 by Cincinnati. The winning run was scored by Pete Rose in the top of the ninth inning via an error, ground out, and another error. In 1967, Steve Barber and Stu Miller of the Baltimore Orioles pitched a combined no-hitter, but lost 2-1 to the Detroit Tigers."

Another interesting note is that Andy Hawkins pitched a no-hitter for the Yankees in the early 90's and lost 4-0 thanks to a ton of Yankee errors late in the game in the same inning. He didn't pitch the 9th inning since they were the visiting team. He was given a no hitter until MLB changed the rule a couple years later and took his no-no away.
