    WSB Weirdness

I've only played 2 games, one on pro and one on allstar and i've already seen alot of things im surprised you guys havent brought up.

    1. 6 for 6 on stolen bases on allstar. Including Doug Mirabelli and Manny Ramierez.

    2. Had 3 triples in one game (on allstar). The problem is overaggresive Outfielder play. They take a bad angle on a hit and it goes by them. Once in a while is fine, 3 times in 9 innings is not.

    3. Computer baserunning is STILL to conservative. Popfly to 10 feet from the warning track. Does the cpu tag up from third? Nope. Next batter, popup to 5 feet from warning track. Does the cpu tag up from third? Nope. I almost took the game out and snapped it in half when that happened. This was on allstar BTW.

    4. More baserunning madness: Man on first will never go to third on a single to right. Man on second will never go home on a single to anywhere in the outfield. Are you f*****ng kidding me?

    5. I, for the life of me, can't find a way to do mound visits.

There was more but that's all i can think of now.

I will state, as my MAJOR caveat, that I was the red sox playing against the Devil Rays. If their AI is just dumber than most, i can accept that. And I will also state that the devil rays beat me silly in my game on allstar. It was embarassing. I had 6 stolen bases and 3 triples and I lost by 6 runs. Good to see the AI actually score this year.

And, for the fanboys, Im not hating on the game, I really just want to see if you guys have seen this stuff either. I already bought and traded High Heat, im gonna feel like a schmuck if i have to walk back into EB with this also...

    30 views and nothing, huh?

I bought this game based on, in part, your impressions of completely polished gameplay. Someone atleast lie to me and tell me this stuff will correct itself.

As for the stealing 'bug'. I play with the pitch speed on 'Very Fast' and have been caught stealing a good bit. Stealing with runners like Conine and Cruz (Orioles) I can get caught. I have been caught with Hairston twice also. I think the pitch speed has a lot to do with it.

Also, I used the X button to steal, not the queing. Maybe one way or the other is better?

Sorry, I refuse to believe that the runner didn't tag up from third on the two flyballs you mentioned. This AI is aggressive. You hesitate, or throw passed the cutoff man and the CPU advances. The AI running is fixed folks.

Seriously, they didnt. It was in the devil ray's dome. Both to left field with me having manny ramerez (sp) catch them. He has a pretty good arm. Is the left field wall short in that park?

The steals. My last game Ramon Vasquez was caught stealing twice. I have left the runner on his normal lead. I did test this and it seems if you stretch your lead (and don't somehow get picked off) you stand a good chance if you get your jump just right. I would suggest leaving the lead off at normal. That would correct the problem.
