who will be paying for MLB TV over the internet
www.mlb.com will be brodcasting 45 games a week over the internet for $15 a month or $80 for the year. Right now you can watch spring training games for free. I was just wondering what you guys think about this. Is it a good idea for mlb or is it not worth the money.Tags: None -
Re: who will be paying for MLB TV over the internet
I'm surprised that there isn't more discussion on this issue, because it could change the way TV is broadcast in the long term future.
I'm interested in it, because I'm planning on getting the MLB DirectTV thing, which is essentially the same thing (45 games a week), but about double the price, but I'm skeptical. Will there be enough bandwith available to satisfy the demand? The last thing I need is poor video quality, and choopyness to ruin a game (also out of sync audio will kill it for me also). I think the first season may be rough, but things are definatly going in the right direction.

Re: who will be paying for MLB TV over the internet
It's not a bad deal, but I will be getting MLB Extra Innings and the get ASB free deal ($135 for MLB Extra Innings).
The quality is really good, and I wanted to check out the free trial period, but I noticed that I had to give them my credit card info in order to watch a live pre-season game.. Which I didn't do.Comment

Don't worry about giving out your credit card. I've been an mlb.com subscriber for a few years, and for the MLB broadcasts they just need it to verify that your not getting an "in market" game which they would get fined if they showed.

That's good information. Thanks.
So if I give them my credit info to check out the free preview, they won't charge my card as soon as the free trial period ends, right?Comment

In that case, it does sound like something that would be worth checking out.
I watched the "demo" they linked to on their site and the quality was really superb. It was especially impressive given the amount of low quality video I have seen on the Internet, including sports clips that are pixellated and quite small.
Thanks again.Comment

Re: who will be paying for MLB TV over the internet
Ok guys, I just watched the yankees vs Red Sox game witch was on live last night. You can watch a game that is archived without giving mlb a credit card number. MLB is going to archive each spring training game that they broadcast live.
The picture quality was good but dont expect to view it in full screen. Around the 8th inning I had some problems, but all i did was stop, restart, and just moved the cursor at the bottum of real one player back to were i had left off.
The game was a broadcast of the YES network so all of the comericals from YES i got to see. Also the sound was synced because they used the YES brodcast.
REPEAT, YOU DO NOT NEED A CREDIT CARD TO WATCH ARCHIVED GAMES. So give it a try sometime and see what you think. I would like to know if people are having problems.
