Inside Drive is a VERY good basketball game... and I've owned all 3 and consider myself an NBA junkie.

Erod, I think this is the first non-political post of yours I've ever responded too.

My experience has been a bit different than yours. I LOVE this game. Most fun I've had with a baseball game in a while.

      5. While some HRs have drama to them, most are the instant-motion-picture variety where you know right off the bat. I like a game to pan to the wall, show the fielders running after it, then it clears the fence or doesn't. I like the drama.

I don't know how many games you've played, but after a half dozen, I'd say about 50% of the HRs I've seen were cut-scene dingers. A couple were ones that just barely cleared the wall. It's much better than ASB.

Agreed, except the infields don't feel as small as the outfields. Still, I am seeing doubles to the gaps.

I don't get that feeling -- are you playing on turf? I feel after a bounce or two, it slows down realistically.

I haven't fooled with stealing too much, but I've swiped 3 bases without getting caught, but with people who have speed (Cory Patterson and Bobby Hill). However, I have yet to throw out the CPU after 6 attempts. Seems like the catcher takes too long to release the ball.

Wow, that's impressive. I think the most I've done was 8 with Kerry Wood. I am the one doing a lot of the striking out.

      3. These guys must be hitting with 20-ounce bats. Rarely do I, or the computer reach the warning track. Almost everything seems to happen in the shallow outfield and in. And the pop-ups are little-league like.

Man, my experience has been the opposite. Lots of deep flies, and the CPU has been good about tagging up, too. I've had a number of warning track shots, and as I said a few that went several feet more over the wall. Also seen some nice hot rips down the lines.

This is not true. I have seen homeruns barely clear the wall. One instant I thought I could make a play only to see it leave the ball park.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Dude, he has some legitimate gripes. This WSB2K3 is THIS (squeezing forefinger and thumb together) close to being a superb, superb product. Unfortunately, it does have some showstopper flaws. I'm willing to bet those flaws will be gone in next year's product. IMO, Sega widened the gap between them and the other competitors this year, and that next year 3DO, EA and possibly Microsoft have no shot at taking out Sega with a blow to the head. The one I am worried about is Acclaim. Had it not been for its bad gameplay, I would be all over that bad boy. It's an oh-so-close game that without the animation problems, cardboard crowd (makes WSB2K3's crowd look like a live party) and mediocre hitter/batter interface would blow WSB2K3 out of the water!
