Re: HH superb pitcher/batter interface has won my purchase

redbird....my opinion doesn't mean squat to anyone but me. This year I have played HH and one other title. HH is ok (don't get me wrong) but I had better games and more fun with Title X...I actually had to pay attention to what I was doing, had to earn my runs and had to work hard to win games. It was also much better graphically and a whole lot more fun.

I won't say which game this is. LIke I said, my opinion is meaningless to anyone buy myself. What I look for in a game is probably completely different than what other people do. Besides, since I have not played all the games currently available, I can't really say one game is the "best". I just know that (to me) Title X is a better game than HH.

I should also point out that until this year I played HH exclusively.

      rdawsoniii,

I agree with you 100% but I can't fiqure out why you gave your opinion in the first place since it doesn't matter to anyone but you.

Were you just bored or something?

          the interface is still good...

I think the graphics and speed of pitches are holding this game back. NOw a week ago I wouldn't have been able to say that. But MVP has proved that you can have realistic looking pitches and a timing based batting system and be successful.

Next year I hope HH looks into this. Right now the pitches in HH just look silly and slow. As a long time HH I finally see where graphics are hurting this game.

But if you like HH you can't go wrong.

In HH try the "low" batting cam instead of the "low zoomed." Pitches don't look slow anymore. It immediately and forever solved the "wiffle ball" pitches. I didn't like the game at all when I first got it and then switched to that angle and now I can't stop playing it.

i agree, i switched from low z to low cam and like it much better, it also does away with the curve that goes behind your back now i get a clearer view of all pitches, also find it easier to pick up what type of pitch has been thrown, i'm loving this game

i own HH2004- my brother rented ASB2004 and brought it over.i hate cursor batting so i used non-cursor batting.d-backs vs dodgers .big unit throws a 99mph fast ball which i was toytally late for-the ball was in the catchers glove and i hit a broken bat HR to straight away CF.enough said-put the game back in its box and began playing HH2004-where if youre late on a pitch it will go opposite field and if youre way late you will miss the ball.

                          For those that suggested.

I did use the low cam. It's just that MVP has an amazing look in the pitching department. That balls look like they have actual spin on them. I'm still impressed with that game.

Back to HH, compared with MVP. Well in terms of the overall game play package once you get out of the batter's box HH is still king. MVP isn't bad but there are some things that could be better. It's not ASB where you have glaring problems every game. Nor is it that CPU will throw to first on a single to the outfield. Little stuff here and their. Ball physics could be better, again one too many liners to the IF. But they way I played HH, I hit everything away so it could be user induced.

It's not HH but it's not horrible. It's quite good. Some problems you can find on the MVP board and they have been dicussed at length. Not a bad first effort for EA Sports shocking that they actually took a chance of a sim oriented game. Unlike HH where it's all sim, MVP is sim based with arcade elements (a good blend when they get it right).

Pick it up for a rent before you buy, that's my best advice.

JRod, I haven't played either game, but I've seen the movies. I can tell you part of the speed on MVP's pitches is an illusion. The speed might be true to life, but the camera uses a Field of Vision (FOV) adjustment to make the incoming ball look even faster. We called it FOV in Quake, at least. It's comparable to using a fisheye lens. That's why the pitcher is so small.

If you look at WSB's behind the pitcher camera it is the exact opposite. Like a real TV camera it uses a low FOV, which means the camera is on the other side of the field, in the stands, and it's made to look close using a zoomed lens. Consequently the ball doesn't look like it's going wicked fast.
