    Gotta give AI credit

Played a game me as Reds against Padres. Adam Eaton was the SD pitcher. It was a tight game throughout where SD was ahead 2-0 in the 8th. I kept putting men in scoring position and was fouling of lots of pitches, driving Eaton's pitch count way up there. Eaton's bar was also getting in the low yellow, but Eaton would battle back to shut the door. In the 9th i got a man on 1st, so i was waiting for the AI to pull the SD pitcher---didnt happen. Again Eaton shuts the door pitches a complete game with 128 total pitches and the Padres win 2-0. In losing i still gotta love it.

The CPU AI rarely pulls the starting pitcher in a low scoring game. They'll go with the starter almost until its too late even with the bar turning yellow and red. I don't like that. Ive come back way too many times because the CPU AI refused to pull the starting pitcher in the 8th or 9th innings.

How does it work in real life? I say this because I don't know. Can a starting pitcher maintain a 95mph fastball through the end of the game? I was under the impression that he could. So in real life if a starting pitcher is still doing great in the 9th inning why pull him, right?

High Heat tries to use this logic, but with videogames you have The Meter. The Meter dictates that your player is tired, his fastball is down into the 80s and your curveball really sucks. So is the problem really with The Meter?

For example in HH the CPU could be beating you 3-1and they'll still have their starter in the 9th inning. Now the problem is not that the starter is pitching in the 9th inning. The problem happens when you get 2 quick singles and its 1st & 2nd nobody out and the CPU AI will still have their starter in ther UNTIL he gives up the 2 runs to tie the game. I've had numerous comebacks because of this. They simply wait until its too late to pull the starter.

Left out in the original post Eaton had given up only 6 hits. In similar situations i could see a manager leaving a pitcher, who is in relative contol, in a game. Thus allowing for a complete game.
