    My First Baseball Series!!!

So i got to watch my first baseball series this week and i was at the reds vs. cubs and on thursday i not only got to see ken griffey jr hit a homerun but i also called the Adum Dunn homerun that landed on sheffield.

which leads to my question, what was the first game yall ever went to and was their anything special about it?

    Yankees-A's in 96.

Darrell Strawberry and Paul O'Neil both made leaping plays at the left and right field walls taking away extra base hits, maybe homeruns.

Way too long ago for me to remember. I would have been 3 or 4.

Wouldn't that just be one game, not an entire series?

The first one that comes to mind was Giants vs Dodgers at Candlestick Park... forget what year, probably 1996. The Giants won 4 - 2, Bonds hit a home run. However, I know that's not my first one, I just don't recall the other ones. I know I went to a lot of A's games when I was maybe three years old before that with my dad, watching Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire in uniform. Again, don't remember anything about any of that, but there was a nice gap between about three and eight years old going to a major league park.

I haven't been to one in about a year, now. Just haven't found the time.

First game was a Phillies game back in 1987 (I forget who they played against, maybe the Cards?). We sat in the 500 level at the Vet, back when the seats in that section were puke brown. The light hitting shortstop Steve Jeltz won the game for the Phils that day.

Dodgers at Braves in 1982. Five game series with the Braves leading the division and the Dodgers in pursuit. I was 10 years old and it was the first time I had ever been to a major league game plus I was and still am a huge Braves and Dale Murphy fan.

The Dodgers had Fernando Valenzuela and the old Fulton County Stadium was packed for every game.

The Braves lost all 5 games of the series and ended up going on to lose something like 20 out of 22 games during that stretch. It was almost like I was the jinx that started the losing the streak, but Joe Morgan then with the Giants saved the Braves on the final day of the regular season with a homer that beat the Dodgers and put the Braves in the playoffs.

Well, I doubt I can remember the first Reds game I ever went to but the earliest game I do remember attending was a Reds-Astros game on Johnny Bench night in 1983. He hit a HR that night to cap off a great career. I was 6 going on 7 and sat two rows from the field behind home. I know I had been to games before that but can't remember many details about them. I do remember coming home from one, while wearing a red TC Twins helmet, and my dad hit a big black dog that ran into the street. Traumatized me for a while.

Glad you enjoyed your first game experience.

I cant recall my first game but the last one was the most memorable, first 4th of July game I ever went to (Padres)..I wanna say late 90's

Hopefully this August I can go to the Padres/Rockies series here in CO

I don't think it was a "game" moment for me, but the most important games for me was going with family members..

Seeing Doc and Fernando hook up in '85 at my first Mets game with my dad, catching the final home game in '88 against the Cards for my brother's first game, seeing Piazza hit the HR to set the record for HR's by catcher with my dad, and watching my boys come back from a 7-1 deficit to win on a Beltran HR in '06 with my then-girlfriend (now- fiance)..

Just special times for me that I'll never forget - just like the foul ball I dropped at Yankee Stadium (sitting with my sister and brother-in-law), only to be mocked by a man with three fingers

My first game was Yanks/Blue Jays in 93. I don't remember the game at all though other than the Yankees came back and won the game.

The first game I remember going to was the first Yankee/Met interleague game in 97.

My very first game was a few years ago, when the Diamondbacks won the World Sereis, I had just recently got into baseball. Randy Johnson murdered the Braves with a masterpiece. Sicne then every year I have seen a World Series Winner in action at Turner Field. Rockies, Red Sox, Marlins, Cardinals, etc. with the exception of the Yankees.

My first game was Yankees vs. Indians. The day AFTER Jim Abbott threw his no-hitter. Just missed that one.

Boxscore. I thought the score was 6-2. Turns out it was 7-2.

I didn't know they had added boxscores to baseball-reference.com ... that is awesome.

Here's is mine from the Dodgers at the Braves in 1982...

Good ol' Dale Murphy went 0 for 8 in the doubleheader.

The Braves came in on a four game winning streak, but didn't win but twice from July 30th to August 18th. They didn't have any off days, played two doubleheaders, and lost 6 game in extra innings. Hard to believe they recovered from that to win the division that year.

1989, Yanks vs Angels. I got Alvaro Espinoza's autograph and Steve Balboni struck out three times. I don't remember the score but I know the Yanks got beat pretty badly.
