Is the Batter-Pitcher Confrontation as Good as High Heat?
As good as graphics and bells and whistles are, the bottom line for me is the batter-pitcher confrontation. I loved it in High Heat, it just felt right. Does WSB2K3 compare? I know it's different (cursor, etc.), but is is it good? Let's put it this way - if you reversed everything else in the games but kept the respective Batting/Pitching interfaces, would WSB still be better? Also, with HH, I really felt that the player's stats made a huge difference, especially with the sim level turned up. Is this true with WSB? Obviously, I'm looking for an excuse to depart from an old reliable but the hitting/pitching experience needs to be rewarding.Tags: None -

No. The Batter-Pitcher Confrontation is not as good as High Heat. But it's not off by much. It doesn't seem as deep at first, but you'll slowly find the depth. You will get hitters chasing balls out of the strike zone, and you will have pitchers setting you up.
(One insanely minor thing - I know it does matter to me - is bunting. WSB does a much better job of handling bunting. It is difficult, and the cursor will change widely depending on your bunting skill. Also, the Pitcher and Catcher react much quicker.)
If you reversed the two? Well the game that had the HH gameplay and the WSB everything else would be bloody nirvana. But until then, you'll have to make a judgement call.
For me, I think that the Batter/Pitcher dues in WSB is close enough to HH that when you add in everything else, WSB is the better game. But yuou'll need to make that decision on your own.5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays

I hate the cursor system because there's a point where you stop playing baseball and start playing the cursor. It's not about where the ball is anymore is about is your cursor is close enough. And I swing at too many first and second pitches that are strikes but I see very little punishment from doing so.
Everything else is quite good in WSB, but FP add another system other than a cursor next year. It doesn't have to be like HH or MVP just something not cursor based for those of us that hate cursors. Timed swing don't count.Comment
