I find it kinda funny that the Redsox are being booed so badly. This is AL vs NL. A REDSOX player tied the game up for the AL. I'm sure if Papelbon gave up a HR, the crowd would cheer. Doesn't make sense to me.

Am I seeing things, but is there a guy in a suit in the NL dugout that looks like Gregg Papovich (or is Papovich?!). Dunno if anyone noticed that. Saw a glimpse of him just as Gonzalez went back to the dugout after that sac fly.

That was a disgusting display by Yankee fans last half inning.

And that run scored on Navarro, not Papelbon.

OK Joe Buck. Papelbon was an idiot for opening up his mouth.

Papelbon said Mariano should close, so open your eyes. Stop reading NY papers and read actual unslanted articles.

He backtracked later but that was a pretty clueless thing for him to say. How can he expect to close in the final All Star Game in Yankee Stadium when Mariano's numbers are much better than his anyways AND Mariano is the greatest closer of all time.

What's wrong with saying he has earned that right? He has earned that right. And as far as him saying he would close himself, what closer wouldn't? If you don't want that ball at the end of the game yourself, you shouldn't be closing.

He never showed any disrespect to Mariano, in fact he showed him quite the opposite.

"If I was managing the team, I would close"

"And Mariano, by what he's done for this role … everybody thinks it's a cut and dry answer, but it's not."

Then he completely backtracked and said it was in his competitive nature to close if he was asked and said Mariano should close.
