The game is definitely fun,but has some glaring bugs that EA needs to address for next year,if they want to challenge for the sim title. Then again its EA,and they'll outsell the competition, and won't touch it. I hope thats not the case.

In addition the in game box score is not listing Pierre in center or Burnett the pitcher. Only 7 players listed! Not Good

What inning? If they haven't batted up it won't list them.
Also, I like to believe that the game makes mistakes on purpose. It's probably a bug but from what I've seen it's kinda funny and makes it seem realistic.
For instance, I had a sure double play. The replay clearly showed that the ball got into the first baseman's glove just before the runner stepped on first. The guy was clearly a half step behind. But the umpire called him safe. I couldn't believe it. My initial reaction was, "a bug!" but then i thought...I wonder if the game allows for human error.
It's probably a stretch, but seeing a homerun called a ground rule double kinda makes me wonder.
My question would be...were the homeruns just barely over the wall or were they huge shots? if they barely made it over teh wall, it's possible that the umpires assumed it hit below the homerun line or somethin? It's happened in the majors before..."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

No, sorry, but that has not happened in real life before. In fact, its impossible.
Umps have made the mistake of calling balls that hit just above the yellow home run line but stay in the park in play, when they should have been ruled a homer, though.
What you suggested is impossible though, because the guy said that he hit the ball into the stands and the game called it a ground rule double. If the ball is in the stands, its a homer, period. For it to be a ground rule double, it would have had to go into the stands on a bounce, not on the fly.
Maybe you just worded what you were trying to say wrong.

LMAO! That's too funny
By the way, I also had Vidro's 2nd homerun of the game taken away because of "a ground rule double". He hit it above the ivy in Wrigley, but they said it was only a double.Comment

Re: Hilarious, but not a good bug
Hmm.. now that I think about it, is it possible that Wrigley Field is a bugged field? Above the guy mentions about the Cubs-Braves game (guessing it was in Chicago?), I had Vidro's homerun taken away at Wrigley also. Seems like the Cubs are involved in a few bugs so far.Comment

yea I misunderstood what the guy was sayin.
I was thinkin of the incident when Edgar Martinez hit a shot to deep left and a fan leaned over for the ball. It was originally a homerun but the ball was ruled a ground rule double. Replays clearly showed that the fun didnt really reach out much.
There have also been times where the baseball will hit off the top of the wall and come back into play but only be ruled a double when some of the time it's a homerun. There are times where it isn't though.
But if the ball is flyin into the stands then you are right, there is no way it should be called a ground rule double."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
