if you find a good setting on the BE(S), please post it....thats the only problem i really run into...the cpu swinging at way too many first pitch strikes, and strikes period for that matter....ive been playing with it at 65, but my plan is to lower it to 58 and play it that way over the weekend, see how it goes

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I have been happy with BE(S) at 40. I used to have it way up in the 80-90 range. As long as you have CPU BA and BE(b) high enough(40/70), you won't get excess K's. CPU BA is the most important variable in determing how many K's you get.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

im testing out this theory, as it sounded logical......ive only put in 1 game, so too early to make big judgements, however.....

i was pitching with David Cone, who in the past would rack up the k's, no matter what i did.....but with the CPU BA moved up to 40, and the BE (S) dropped to 30, i was able to pitch him 6 2/3 and got only 4 k's, pitch count in the 70s/80s, and the took quite a number of called strikes as opposed to hacking at everything.....so for a first try, very good results indeed.....good call, Snate

How many hits the CPU get? I agree that you get less strikeouts with BA at 40, but I could never get the CPU to get less than 5 hits in a game, even with my best pitchers.

I think I have gotten very good at pitching in this game all of a sudden. I now have raised my CPU BA up to 60. At 40 and 50, I was leading the league in every pitching category by alot. I may need to go up even further. The higher you go with BA the lower you can go with BE(s).

This will most likely be my final slider settings:

                  CPU PA 100
                  CPU BA 30

With BE (S) at 100, do you find that the CPU swings at too many pitches? How are your pitch counts?

They swing a lot with BE(S) at 100, but they don't make contact too often with BA at 30, so my pitch counts are about 120 pitches on average.

Re: I think I got it. New and improved sliders!!!

I see what you're saying gamer, but this is the problem in my mind with both set at 100.

-CPU will hardly ever swing at balls
-CPU will always swing at strikes

Yes, they will miss a lot of the time, leading to realistic pitch counts (with the BA at 30), however I don't feel this is a natural way of acheiving this.

On a 3-1 pitch, I don't want the CPU swinging at a curve low and outside- To me that ruins the realism. Not seeing them take certain pitches is too much a price to pay IMO.

Also, seeing them swing and miss so often seems strange too.

Try these sliders out. I've just started with them and they are AMAZING.

                              For player- HVP
For CPU- MVP (make switch under team options just before first pitch)

                              CPU Pitching- 95
                              CPU Batting- 37
                              CPU Eye (B)- 60
                              CPU Eye (S)- 60
                              Throw Strikes- 1
                              Stealing- 45

                              I just had this game-

                              Bos (CPU) 2 9 0
                              Tor 3 8 1

Pitch count- 100 (obviously could be a little higher, but this is a very acceptable number for a low scoring game)

                              Ball thrown- 35 (realistic)

Strikeouts- 2 (realistic as I was using Hendrikson- 4th starter)

This game was the first time I've seen the CPU swing and not swing when they should have. Very rarely would they swing at a borderline pitch when up in the count. They would really work the count with me. Sometimes they would even take a strike on the first pitch, simply because they were looking fastball (realistic).

I will keep trying these sliders- If you give up too many hits, I'd say lower BA to 35. But 37, 60, 60 works great IMO.

I've tried every combo possible, and this has me intrigued.

I see what you're saying gamer, but this is the problem in my mind with both set at 100.

-CPU will hardly ever swing at balls
-CPU will always swing at strikes

Yes, they will miss a lot of the time, leading to realistic pitch counts (with the BA at 30), however I don't feel this is a natural way of acheiving this.

On a 3-1 pitch, I don't want the CPU swinging at a curve low and outside- To me that ruins the realism. Not seeing them take certain pitches is too much a price to pay IMO.

Also, seeing them swing and miss so often seems strange too.

Try these sliders out. I've just started with them and they are AMAZING.

                                For player- HVP
For CPU- MVP (make switch under team options just before first pitch)

                                CPU Pitching- 95
                                CPU Batting- 37
                                CPU Eye (B)- 60
                                CPU Eye (S)- 60
                                Throw Strikes- 1
                                Stealing- 45

                                I just had this game-

                                Bos (CPU) 2 9 0
                                Tor 3 8 1

Pitch count- 100 (obviously could be a little higher, but this is a very acceptable number for a low scoring game)

                                Ball thrown- 35 (realistic)

Strikeouts- 2 (realistic as I was using Hendrikson- 4th starter)

This game was the first time I've seen the CPU swing and not swing when they should have. Very rarely would they swing at a borderline pitch when up in the count. They would really work the count with me. Sometimes they would even take a strike on the first pitch, simply because they were looking fastball (realistic).

I will keep trying these sliders- If you give up too many hits, I'd say lower BA to 35. But 37, 60, 60 works great IMO.

I've tried every combo possible, and this has me intrigued.
