BASE stealing question

What is the procedure for using the D PAD method to steal bases. When trying to steal 2nd base for example do you press up on the D PAD and the runner automatically runs or do you have to press X also?

if you want person on first to steal second, you press dpad up and he steals automatically, to control the steal yourself, press X to steal

This is different than WSB because in that game when you press up on the D PAD, the batting cursor moves also.
