Re: Easiest Baseball Game to fix

The only one I played last year was ASB and I liked it pretty well, but I really can't comment on the others because I didn't play them. The changes I would make to ASB though are relatively minor but this year I think all the games look like they have made some good improvments at least based on the info at hand at this time.

I would have to say WSB would be the easiest to "fix", or mold into the perfect game. They did a lot of things right last year, to the point where all that is really needed is polishing and some presentation aspects. They seem to have done that this year, although we can't say for a while.

ASB may not be too hard either, but in my opinion, their core engine isn't as good as WSB's. There are a lot of basic things that are a problem in that game, such as : the vaccum effect on ground balls, the fielders going into the squatting animation after plays, the pitches being too fast, the Willie Mays catches in the OF, etc. While some of those may be fixed, I don't think the majority will. It seems like Acclaim has been preoccupied the last 2 years with fleshing out their options and franchise modes and pretty much ignoring the core gameplay. The issues that most people have with the game have been there since they released the first one on PS2 in 2001.

WSB just needs a tightening of the strike zone, and it will be very good.

The strike zone in WSB last year was HUGE. It really killed your ability to be selective and take many pitches. Any pitch within 3 inches of the strike zone was called a strike.

Made the game all but unplayable for me.

          Take care,

In the OS interview:Operation Sports: Has the strike zone been corrected? It seemed too large last year.
David Perkinson: The bottom of the strike zone has been raised a little, thereby reducing its size as well as the lethality of low pitches. I think that you'll find that you need to approach the game a little differently this year to be successful. "
How this translates to the game. I don't know.It should help some

If you check out the movies at IGN, it definitely looks as if they have done some work to shrink it. Plus there's a pitch track that visually breaks it down for you if anyone likes to bitch about it.

Looks pretty damn legitimate to me.
