Sure, players dive and jump for balls, but there is no jump or dive button. All you do is move defenders in the general area and the computer jumps or dives after the ball on its own.

To make matters worse, the fielders never seem to be where you want them, especially when trying to make a close tag. It happens far too often that you'll throw a ball to home (using a cool throwing meter, similar to the pitching meter) and when the catcher catches the ball, he takes a step back into the infield and loads up like he's going to gun the ball to back toward second base.
Meanwhile, the runner from third sneaks in behind the catcher before the A.I. realizes that the catcher should've been in a tagging animation. The runner slides into home, then the catcher makes the sweep tag. The run scores even though the throw beat the runner by a mile.
Things like that can turn the average gamer into a ranting Lou Pinella in no time. And unfortunately, this happens at every base. It's like the more the throw beats the runner, the more the defensive player doesn't know what to do with the ball.
All you want him to do is stand there and make the tag, but for some reason, every time you throw the ball to a base, the guy who catches the ball takes a step in another direction as if to throw the ball, even if there's no one else on base. Argh! I'm turning into Sweet (more like sour) Lou just thinking about it.
And by biggest problem:
Speaking of frustration, MVP lacks a lot of features found in many (if not most) of its competition. There's no Fantasy Draft, no Hall of Fame or Negro League players, no practice mode, no Player of the Game award, no throwback jersey's or old-school stadiums,
GOD THIS IS 1 OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS:
and worst of all, there's no way to change your lineup or pitcher before a head-to-head game. That's right. The only way to adjust your lineup is to do it before you even pick your team (how are you supposed to adjust your lineup if you don't know what team you're going to select?) while fiddling with the Roster Management screen. How something so basic could've been overlooked is simply ridiculous.
