In order for you to truly understand this comment you will need to go to any mlb trade rumor site and see the countless amount of teams that are just trying their darndest to get Dunn in a trade. I mean it is kind of scary all the teams that are interested in the big man. All that power and high OBP has really turned some heads in the pro's and he just may well be the most sought after player right now.

It actually makes sense since he has been on FIRE lately. In the last 24 games he is batting:

        .288 avg
(not that anyone in the world cares about batting avg, but I will display it anyway)
        11 HR's
        24 RBI's
        .398 OBP
        .725 SLG
        1.123 OPS

Now do you see why nearly every team that wants an outfielder are knocking the Reds door down for him? Or am I wrong? Maybe the stats are correct, and they are because I just looked them up for everyone, but are teams really knocking down the door? Maybe not. Which is why it is so weird that Adam Dunn, having the hottest month of the year for him, is still not garnering much or any interest from teams. The Yanks have looked into him, but don't want to give anything up for him. The...the....well....I guess the Yanks are the only ones that have been known to actually look into acquiring Dunn.

Does that seem strange to anyone else that the stat guy's most valuable player in the world isn't garnering much interest? How can that be?

Also...this is post 1000 for me - woohoo! Do I get a cookie?. Not trying to start an Adam Dunn war again, just wanted to throw some facts out there for people that are interested. I mean why look at what 29 other teams are thinking when you can figure it all out on your own about how invaluable he is?

My thoughts on Adam Dunn? I had no idea he was such a polarizing figure until I browsed the baseball forums on OS.

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable, errr, reason, not to want someone on your team.

you two are neglecting how much more valuable a groundout is compared to a strikeout.

But a groundout to Dan Uggla at least has a chance to be misplayed imo.

I would rather have a lineup of high average players than guys like Dunn. Guys like Dunn get hot and cold. When they're cold, its horrible and you aren't scoring runs. Sure he'll get you some HRs and might win a few games, but I would rather have a guy who can get a hit any time you need one. Bats go cold and then the power hitter is useless, but the average hitter can still get on base and make something happen.

The thing about that is, even the high average guys only succeed in getting hits 1/3 of the time. And you just load your team with high average no-power hitters, you'll get lots of singles and no one to drive them in with doubles and homeruns. Guys like Dunn are important because they are intimidating to go up against. Sure, you wish he had an AVG. like Pujols does, but his power and run-production are undeniable.

Your loss. For my team, I'll happily take Dunn, Howard, Uggla, Sizemore, Upton, Pena, and all the other strikeout kings. We'd make the sky turn black like at the end of 300, only with home run balls instead of arrows. I wish you the best with Eckstein, Ichiro, and company.

Dunn has a career 131 OPS+ and has a 138 OPS+ this season. You don't want to see him in the OF but he's an excellent hitter. My team will always have room for a slugger like Dunn.

I guess Manny, Fuentes, Teixeira, Beltre, Bradley all suck since no one is beating down their team's doors for them. Its going to be a lame trade deadline.
