Re: too many bugs, what a joke this game is....

it was just a "gotta get something off my back" post.

Everybody should have their own opinion, that's for sure, and should be allowed to share it. But things people are bringing up as "this is unacceptable, I can't see how they missed this" are ridiculous. This is a game, not the real thing. Each year the video game industry strives get everything right. They don't get it right, but they usually get closer. These games are a result of a year's worth of work and they are a franchise by themselves. Sooner or later, everthing "might" be fixed, but this is how the game is this year, so people should get over it and play it. Just like I should forget about the bitch posts.

    Long day, lotta bitchin!!!!!!!!!

    Great game though...

"The bashing and complaining has got to stop. It's ridiculous. If you want to post an 8 paragraph critique of how the game sucks and your dissappointed and you're taking it back, don't waste your d*amn time and go find another baseball game that fits your needs, or go develop it on your own. "

Well, I haven't bought a baseball game yet, so I came here to read what everyone had to say about the game; good or bad. I liked last year's WSB a lot the first couple of weeks, but there were a lot of little things wrong with it that began to wear on me with time. And then there was one big issue; the announcers not saying the names of the fictional players. In my opinion, this was unacceptable. Especially since the developers said in interviews that this feature would be there. It's even more ridiculous that this hasn't been fixed for this year's game. I don't care how great the franchise system is, it's not so fun when a few years into it, all your players are referred to by number.

I think I'll give HIgh Heat a try this year.

I've played computer baseball games for over 15 years. Baseball Stars, Apba, RBI, High Heat etc. They all have good and bad points. The future of sports games in general is to let the user customize each and every aspect of the game to play it to their liking. Sega has done a great job with this game. The fact that you can customize each and every player during franchise is the 1st time I can remember in a game that is possible. As the games get more and more sophisicated, smaller things become evident in how it could be better. All I know is if this game was out when I was 12, I would never have gone outside. The games are as realistic as you want them to be, and that is all I could ask.

Don't forget the Hardball series. You could customize those up the wazoo! You could even draw a bad looking Logo for your team. Ahhh memories, I'm gonna force a lot of people on here to sit down and play some Atari 2600 baseball. Anything that goes off the screen is a homerun baby. Hey I'm not saying you can't have high standards, but as someone who used to play horrible Atari Baseball with my little white stick joystick (cuz I wore the cover off of it) I can't really nitpick a game to death.

I hear that. the old single button joysticks.... Now these controllers are so big, they barely fit in your hand (XBOX at least) but remember having played SNK Baseball Stars so much, the game cartridge never left my consolein like 2 years, when i finally pulled it out, the console was so full of dust, only SNK would play in it. those older games were revolutionary. Nowadays, these games aren't making as much as an impact, because people are expecting too much from them. I have already reserved my copy of WSB on PS2 for this Tuesday, and though I like fun in the game play, I'm a purist, and I think I'll enjoy more of the franchise options it has to offer along with above average graphics, than any other game availble this year. Now when I get the game, I'm not going to make any bitch posts, I would like to critique it for what it has, rather than what it don't have. As far as the name announcing for fictional players, who cares, its not like you wont be able to read the names on the back of the jerseys, unless you play with the Yankees, then you'll need to memorize the numbers to players. But its not such a big deal when you grew up playing baseball games to back round music, ex: RBI Baseball, SNK Baseball Stars... the fly balls that make the wierd undescribable in words type of sounds.... you older guys know what I mean by that.. im even sitting here right now, making the sounds out loud, but can't for the life of me, put the sounds into words

Man thanks for making my day here at work. I was making those same sounds in my head when I wrote that last Atari post. I completely forgot about background music too. Remember that RBI baseball song. That thing would get in your head. You'd be humming that thing on the bus, at school, in your sleep. Whats sad is that I still remember every note of that damn song. Don't forget the other song, The "Runner in scoring position" song. Nice to see some other fogeys here. Hehe, mid 20's/early 30's makes us old timers in the vid-game world, though i prefer to think of myself as a grisled veteran of the 8-bit wars...errr perhaps I should't have said that last part out loud.
