After some experimentation we found solid hits are to be found in cold zones, even with the standard "A" button press, unaccompanied by a stick press.Good contact is the key and I suppose with more developed skills you can look for pitches thrown in these zones particularly using hitters with 1 or 2 cold zones. We already use "no pitching aid","vibration off",but don't have a real problem directing pitches into these zones whenever we want.As far as cold & hot zones being part of baseball I can appreciate that, but the gamer's control as a pitcher EXCEEDS real life pitcher control, regardless of the pitcher meter or disabled pitching aids,so an imbalance exists in that regard because gamer's pitchers can pinpoint these spots with more regularity then real life pitchers.

a cold zone is just a spot where the hitter performs worse than his hotter zones. Doesn't necessarily mean the guy can't hit there. He's in the majors.
The main reason why pitchin continously to the cold zone will allow for solid hits is b/c the player is adjusting.
If you for example had trouble hittin the outside pitch but loved the inside pitch it's probably b/c you wait for an inside pitch and get fooled by the outside one. But if you noitced the pitcher is throwin outside ALL THE TIME, wouldn't you adjust. And if you look for an outside pitch you'll have solid contact.
Case in point...I hit a homerun with Robin Ventura. The pitch was a mistake in the cold zone. Now it was the cold zone, but so what. It was a mistake and Robin was lookin for it so he hit it hard.
Cold doesnt mean you can't hit...just means you dont hit as well as you do compared to the hot zones."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Mistake pitches are free to be drilled under any circumstances. I hit a homerun when I had the stick set to DOWN/LEFT for a right handed batter to go with the pitch on a hit and run with a runner at 2nd.That pitch would have been a grounder of some type under every circumstance except when a mistake pitch was thrown.I realize about a cold zone not being a "dead" zone but the great accuracy of a gamer's pitcher as opposed to a real pitcher creates an imbalance in favor of the pitcher. If you have not played many 2 player MVP games you can't fully appreciate that.Comment

Re: My Slight Problem with MVP Especially In 2 Player
Over the extensive play I have put in over the weekend, I have found that the real determining factor for gettting hits vs getting outs seems to be if your pitcher catches center on his green pitch meter or if he misses completly on the green. This is what has been happening more often than not:
Centered Green: batter will either miss with the swing or hit it softly for an out
edges of the Green: most likely hit it hard, but favors an out ie hard line drive caught, hard fly ball caught
miss the Green: Ball will be smashed for a hit most of the time.
Miss the Green and it hits batters HOTSPOT ( flashing red cursor ) Great chance to see a Homer or a ball smashed for extra bases

Play two-player with strike zone off, vibration off, and no pitch cursor."If y’all see me in the news, and I make the news for something that I ain’t got no business making it for, don’t bash me. Say it was a young guy living."
