The differences in the averages seem to indicate that there are hot and cold streaks. I looked in the manual but I didn't see anything about it. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is the case?

Are there Hot and Cold Streaks?
I am about 15 games into my franchise and some of my players are batting near or over .400, while others are hitting well below .250. And this isn't like all my good hitters have high batting averages and my poor hitters have low averages. Rich Aurilia is hitting like .223 while Andres Galaraga is hitting .421. Bonds is hitting like .470 with 14 HRs (Noone else has more than 2, and most of those came in simmed games).

I've found that simming provides realistic stats.

yes you are right about that. but it is for maybe the first couple of seasons. i have simulated about 15 seasons and the stats are completely unrealistic. these are some of the stats that i can remeber off the top of my head.
BA--.380
HR--80
RBI--200
RUNS--200
WINS--31
LOSES--1
ERA--UNDER 1.50
STRIKEOUTS--397
I have seen these stats year in and year out even up to the last year that they play at the age of 43.Comment

Re: Are there Hot and Cold Streaks?
in 98, mcgwire had 70 homers. in 01, bonds had 73. if you told me that in a few years someone would hit 80 i wouldn't doubt it.
anytime you sim into the future, the stats will be speculative and i see no reason why they should mirror 2002's stats.Comment

sorry about that but i should have been a little more detailed. these stats are not for just one person in a complete simulated season. more than one person is getting these stats in one year. AND DID I MENTION THAT SOME WERE EVEN GETTING THESE STATS AT THE SENIOR CITIZEN AGE OF 43.
This is an example of what i am trying to say. I dont remember year it was in but i was looking at the free agent list of players available and i saw that MARK ELLIS had stats like this
BA--.350
HR--50
RBI--150
i mean dont get me wrong i am enjoying the game. i am only answering the questions that people are asking and trying to give as much detail and information as possible. i wouldnt trade this game for anything else.Comment

Re: Are there Hot and Cold Streaks?
when i simmed out around 15 years i noticed that it was pretty easy to build a powerhouse. i was just going through the motions with the pirates, but i was able to get their budget up to 75,000. i worried that in time the game would be to easy to dominate, but the thing is EVERYONE gets better. there were about 13 great teams and 7 of em were downright scary.
i see what yer saying about the stats, but since the increase is uniform, it shouldn't make much of a difference in the competition (although i doubt we'll have trouble getting or giving up homers/strikeouts.)Comment
