wait for your pitch, and good things (can) happen

i'm doing a franchise with the yankees, and thru six games i was 1-5 and giambi was ice cold. no home runs, not a whole lot of hits at all. then i started waiting for a pitch he could drive. in the three games since, he's hit 5 home runs, including one to deep right center that hit the railing of the upper-most deck and bounced back onto the field. awesome.

yanks are now 4-5. everyone's kicked it up a notch since i made an effort to take each at-bat as deep into the count as i need to take it.

Exactly. I interrupted a sim game in the top of the 9th trailing 7-6 to the Brewers. I held them scoreless with a man left on in the top of the 9th. Bottom of the 9th, J.D. Drew hits a solo shot on a 2-2 pitch to tie the game and two batters later, Scott Rolen yanks one down the left field line on a 3-1 pitch to win the game.

What about your other guys? Are they hitting HR's? I've played 15 games with the Braves.....Chipper and Sheffield have 2 HR's, but no one else has hit one. This is very frustrating ....... I don't DeRosa or Furcal to hit 20, but Fick, A. Jones, Castilla, and Javy should have at least one by now.

What level are you playing on?

i'm playing on pro, and i think everyone in the starting lineup has at least one except jeter.

your homers will come with everyone over time, if you're smart about when you go for them.

12-9 in my franchise with the Reds
                9 HR with Griffey
                3 HR with Dunn
                3 HR with Boone
                2 HR with Kearns
                2 with 1 HR

This is on PRO difficutly. I think I need to quit thinking long ball for awhile though as my batting averages for my players are low except for Griffey whos batting .370. The rest are below .300.

20-11 with the royals on all-pro

                    Sweeney 27
                    Beltran 17
                    Ibanez 13

I just wait till the computer makes a mistake and then..into the cheap seats at the K. Sweeney did get robbed of a walk off home run by the umpire though, it bounced off the foul pole and went into left field GA and they called it foul. I dont know if its a bug or what but hopefully it doesnt happen again.

MVP relies on your timing to be able to fully use the players' attrributes. Use the HR showdown as BP and you'll be able to tell the difference in hitting the ball squarely, or being just off with your timing. They throw a variety of pitches--it'll help you get better at hitting overall as well, not just hitting bombs.

And don't point the stick directly up all the time as that is just aiming for the deepest part of the park.

The wat I look at it, is that people shouldn't be hitting a lot of homers the first week they play the game. Imagine what you would be doing after a few months of playing. I will never complain about having to be patient enough for homeruns. I think you have to become a really patient hitter and look for certain pitches. This is what happens in real life, so I like how they've done it.
