Thanks all for helping me finally pick a baseball game:

After reading all your thoughts I decided to give all the games a thorough rental over the weekend, except for HH which I already own.

I have finally decided on All Star 2004....its really enjoyable and depp. it has alot of the bb experinece and touches down right and the carreer mode is very full. MVP was fun too but i couldnt afford both and i thought it wasnt as thorough in the franchise as ASB. WSB was pretty deep but i didnt think that the animations were as smooth in some things but the gamepleay felt a bit smoother like HH. But I think that ASB just had too many little things done perfectly.....I felt that I really had to work hard to fool the batters and i liked alot of the differneces in hits and errors on the field. I may be crazy too but i also think that the slower pace compared to the others really won me over too. It felt more like a baseball game to me.

    thanks eveyrone!....especially DonJn!

No problem! I too chose ASB2004 and am loving it to death. I love the gameplay, the franchise mode (of course), and the extras such as the pick up game mode, scenario mode, trivia game, Batting practice and the HR derby.

ASB seems to have the right mix of realism and fun. The depth is breathtaking. From Salary arbitration to a Rule 5 draft, it has the deepest franchise of all the baseball games this year. I'm very happy with my purchase and I have high hopes for next year.

Well, after complaining so much about HH, I'm not suprised you bought another game . .

I don't understand how the slow game pace mixes with the extensive franchise options. How many games do you play per season? Maybe ten?

Here's my philosophy. If you are going to sim all your games you might as well get Out of the Park or something like that. I appreciate franchise modes in football games because you can realistically play the season all the way through. Not so with console baseball games.

My personal philosophy is to let console baseball games be what they are supposed to be first and foremost: good PLAYING games on the field and at the plate. Franchise modes can take a hike! Spend more time on the fundamentals of baseball and leave the franchises to the franchise-only games.

I totally understand why people like ASB2004 though, since they are essentially getting two games in one. I just feel when you ask for both you are making it less likely for either aspect to reach its full potential.
