to each his own i guess. i have had asb the last couple years and played awhole season with the reds, but when i tried to play this years version i got really bored really quick. one thing that really bothers me is the fielding asb. when they pick up the ball they hold onto it way to long before throwing it, its like they cant get the ball out of thier glove every play. i could go on and on but i dont have the time.

Re: XBN Reviews All baseball games
I haven't played this year's ASB but I played last year and while it was a good game, WSB was better for what I wanted and that's why I just bought 2K3 this year, but ASB has a very deep franchise mode and should have received at least a 7.5 - 8 range....Comment

Re: XBN Reviews All baseball games
They probably had the same guy as last time, Jeff Pearlman (I think that's his name) of Sports Illustrated. ASB is very tough to jump into, and if you're a big shot writer with More Important things to do, you're not going to fiddle with options trying to find something that suits you. You're going to write the game off as terrible without a second thought. It's really frustrating to get a bad review because the reviewer is ignorant. I think ASB suffers from this problem more than anyone because their default options are just way too hard and a lot of the things that make the game good aren't readily apparent.Comment

Re: XBN Reviews All baseball games
I've never even heard of XBN. I almost dismissed ASB 2004 because there were a lot of things missing from ASB 2003. I already own MVP but decided to rent it anyway and it was great. The stadiums are amazing plus it has so many features like stadium tours, player cards, ect. The options alone, homrun derby, and batting practice are enough for me to purchase it since its only $39.99 now. Don't always believe the reviews. The only problem I have is they need to fix the fielding animations. Its kinda ugly to look at players fielding the ball because they never actually touch it. Its the so called "vacuum effect". Work on that a little bit add some closer camera views and you have made a good game great.***My Teams***
NCAA - Oklahoma Sooners
MLB - St. Louis Cardinals
NFL - Dallas Cowboys
NBA - Oklahoma City ThunderComment

Re: XBN Reviews All baseball games
Fatpitcher...i really wouldnt worry about these silly writers anyways...I think ASB is a great game and you guys did a wonderful job with the game...it's clearly the most realistic baseball game this year....heads and shoulders above the rest in terms of depth and attention to detail. However you guys should think about adopting MVP's enjoyable Pitching and batting system for next year's game....at least as toggle option.

Re: XBN Reviews All baseball games
Fatpitcher works with WSB, not ASB.

FatPitcher, you're a pretty classy guy.
Pearlman did do the reviews. In general, I think XBN has the best reviews of any of the magazines, and I can understand the thinking in getting an guest writer with sports credentials in. But Pearlman is a stone cold idiot.
The MVP review in XBN has been posted at Gamers.com. And it qualifies as one of the worst reviews I've ever seen: MVP Baseball 2003
I would quote it, but it's awsome majesty can only be comprehended with a full read.5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays
