Anyone frustrated with cursor batting, give this a try..

I know some people would dismiss easy batting as...well, too easy, but if you're not crazy about cursors, give this setting a try.

Go with Easy Batting, AllStar Level, Exaggerated Pitching, and pitching/batting aids turned on (though you could probably be flexible with that). Next, get in the habit of checking the hot/cold zones as each batter comes to plate. Only takes a second or two to do as they're first coming up. Think about it..the guys in the big leagues a lot of times are simply sitting/guessing on a pitch. A guy like McGwire or Sosa doesn't go up to the plate looking to hit just anything out (well, maybe Sosa does). Instead, they sit on a pitch and if they get it, they try to make sure the pitcher pays.

In ASB, use the hot/cold zones to look for a pitch early in the count. If a guy like Mike Mattheny (catcher for the Cards) is cold except for down and in, where he's got a little bit of pink showing, then cause yourself not to swing unless that first pitch is there. If it is, take a hack at it. Otherwise, take it...it might even be ball one and then you're ahead in the count. I've been doing this and getting excellent results so far. You'll end up taking some strikes early in the count that will have you way out in front of that change for strike 3 (I usually strike out 4-7 times a game, which is good enough for me). You'll also end up working the count in your favor some and will probably end up with 1-2 walks a game as well.

And this may only be psychological, but on easy batting, when I'm holding the stick in the area where the ball is being pitched, I seem to be getting better results...kind've like it is a little bit of zone hitting at work. Again, I could just be imagining that, but I'm going to keep an eye out for this and see if there's anything to it. If nothing else, by pointing the stick in the direction of the area of Mike Mattheny's hot zone that I'm focusing on, I am concentrating more on not swinging at a pitch outside of that zone.
