Was there ever a resolution to the "dive" fielding problems?

I was wondering, because I am thinking about picking up MVP. I was gonna wait till Wed. for ps2 WSB, but now I'm not sure. The bugs report list is huge on the WSB board and I hear on this MVP board how great the atmosphere is. I need good atmosphere. I read that WSB was anemic in regards to atmosphere. Can somebody with both or who has played both (Skyboxer maybe..lol) give me there take on the strengths and weaknesses of both games. I have MLB 2004, but I feel the need to buy another game due to non-existent roster management in MLB. Does MVP have good roster capability? Can you Create-a-Player, make trades, set line-ups in exhibition and carry those rosters to season in MVP or WSB? Both? Which one is more fun...more realistic...more replay value? I'm about as on the fence between these two as I have been since release. Right now i'm looking to add some fun to my vid game library, but I'm worried about fielding bugs in MVP and overall bugs in WSB.

Yes. There is no dive problem. The reviewer had to have sucked playing the game for this to be a problem for him. In over 30 or so games I have had player dive wrong ONCE. And that was my stupidity not the games...

yep the dive is a user error. the two times it's happened to me I knew it was gonna happen b/c I stupidly moved my fielder away from the field marker.

Nope. There are NO dive problems. The players dive very realistically, and make some spectacular diving and leaping catches. I've never seen a player dive wrong AT ALL.

So on assisted fielding, you just have to run to the spot and not move the stick and the "dive" will not happen? If so, that is a real relief. What about the catch animations? Some guys have been saying that you can't turn double plays or throw runners out at home. Can the user easily resolve this thru manual fielding or thru some other method? Also anybody willing to give me a strong point / weak point comparison of the two games with no bias would be appreiated.

I will comment on the atmoshpere. It is simply incredible. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to rent WSB yet.

The sound is great. You really feel the crowd excitement throughout the game. You hear chants like "Let's go Jays!" or "MVP MVP!" when a team's star is at the plate.

If you have surround sound its even better. I love the fact that I can hear the umpire's call from the speakers behind me, as if he's actually crouching there.

The feel of the stadiums are great...beautiful replays and a great sense of space. I know a complaint about WSB is that the field feels very small. The fields in MVP feel accurate and impressive.

What game are these people playing. Double plays are fairly easy to pull off. Far easier than any of the games last year that I played (ASB, WSB).

The user just needs to make sure they program their player to throw to second before he receives the ball and has the fielder throwing to first do the same before he receives the ball from the original fielder.

There are a couple of times I turned the play slowly but it was b/c I didnt press the button soon enough. So my player went into a set position animation. YOu just gotta make sure to override that by hurryin the fielder. That's done by preprogrammin the throw (future throws as one game calls it)

No. Assisted mode is that the CPU controls the fielders until they catch it, and then you throw it. Manual mode is you control all of it.
