Hitters don't swing at Balls at all

I have played 4 games now on Pro Level. I do get strike outs but only when I pitch in the Strike Zone. Do the Hitters not swing at all when pitched outside the Strike Zone? I am stumped. It cost me a lot of Strikeouts by pitching in the Zone all the time especially when i'm ahead 0-2. Anybody else having this Problem?

yes they do, just not much.

view the pitchin tips threads and you'll get some observations on it.

Yes they do. I also had a hard time getting K's when I first played. You have to set them up with good pitches and change of pace. You can not just throw FB after FB... Have to go in and out..fast and slow...Keep the CPU "Guessing"

The CPU hitters will never swing at a ball that is a potential X. Meaning the game has been programmed for the CPU to make perfect decisions on balls out of the strikezone...they can always see the X the way we can on balls far from the strikezone...but you can get them to chase balls, it just has to be 'slightly' outside of the strikezone area. If its a bit too far, they will see the X ( even tho you dont see it on the screen ) I have been able to get up to 10-12 strikeouts by working the corners in the cold zones, mixing up velocities and fooling the cpu hitters with hard stuff followed by change ups or curves...or vice verca right off the strike zone but dont go too far or they'll watch it called for a ball. Also , to ensure the strikeout on the 3rd strike, I charge the pitch completely and try to catch the center of the green on the way back up....almost garunteed if its just off the strikezone but not far enough that it would be an X

                Simply put...

I hit the corners just barely outside of the strike zone. If I keep the pitch meter the black area for effectiveness and in the middle area for accuracy they usually swing at a ball.

This is difficult to do but not impossible. Give it a shot!

the X doesn't show up for balls that are far out of the strike zone. it shows up when the pitcher misses his green and the ball is anywhere outside of the strike zone. So, you're little theory doesn't make much sense.

well, that's not true either. It's rare, but they will go fishing occasionally.
