Re: Anyone use the 3d cursor without tilting it?
Hits go all over the field, but I have trouble getting any power unless I use the power swing option. Otherwise, I get grounder, soft line drives, and maybe some base hits. -

Re: Anyone use the 3d cursor without tilting it?
In trying to get a better variety of hits, I tried it and didn't tilt it (seems like too much control for me). While you do get alot more grounders, the above post is correct -- you can't get any power -- meaning balls hit hard in gap and homeruns -- without switching to the power cursor -- which is super-small.
I went back to normal and dealt.
In other news, have you tried MVP? I've been trying to decide between that and ASB. Too much contact and a weaker franchise mode are probably going to have ASB win -- although the atmosphere and the baserunning is much better in MVP.Comment

Normal? Do you mean classic? What other settings are you using?
I agree with everything you said about MVP. It has some strengths but I view it as baseball lite. If you don't take it too seriously or just play it as a pick up play game it is OK. That is pretty much EA's target audience, so they are probably happy.

Re: Anyone use the 3d cursor without tilting it?
Yea, I meant "classic" -- which, in my book, is normal.
Good assessment of MVP -- but I do love those throwing meters, menu music, and crowd noise.
I've been playing with classic, pitch cursor off, strike zone off, exagerated pitching, vibration off. One thing I've been trying is to only move the pitch once the pitcher starts his motion. Makes it more challenging and more likely to result in balls or bad pitches.
Still thinking about playing around with the normal cursor some more...

I haven't. For awhile I was playing Veteran, Classic, Exagerrated, Strike Zone off, Pitch Aid off. I was starting to hit too well and I wasn't walking enough guys.
Then I put the game down for awhile to test MVP and WSB. Now I am back looking to nail down the best settings.
The only thing I am sure I am going to keep is strike zone off.
I have been playing with exagerrated pitch speeds b/c I can't touch the fastball on normal. But I like the breaking stuff on normal better. And I have been hitting well lately so maybe I will try normal again. But I do not want to play it if I have to wait for a breaking pitch to hit. Also, when pitchers tire they are too easy to hit on exagerrated.
I have been using classic almost exclusively but I am considering trying the 3d cursor. But I refuse to aim. And I'm not a huge fan of contact / power option.
I tried pitch aid on the other day and I ended up walking a few batters which is more than I usually do. But in the end, I think I will go back to it off.
Let me know if you come up with anything.

Re: Anyone use the 3d cursor without tilting it?
My experience with the 3d cursor without tilting was pretty poor. LOTS of liners right back to the pitcher. It's funny though, because using the power cursor I get the *best* variety of hits. I really don't feel like playing an entire game lurking on power, however.
I'm still currently playing on allstar, classic cursor, and normal pitching. I get good games that way, although my hit variety IS limited...Comment

Re: Anyone use the 3d cursor without tilting it?
Last night, I was using exagerrated pitches and actually was walking a ton of batters. It was weird -- the break always brought them far out of the zone. I've got to decide between the two.
But, I tend to like normal a bit better, but I wa really missing the ball with the classic cursor on normal. Plus, I've never liked the feel of lining of the cursor -- its feels fake. Instead, I've been trying zone -- with normal (and occasionally exagerrated ) pitching -- and really liking it.
Let me know what you find.Comment
