    Next step for franchise mode...

Franchise mode is the greatest thing to happen to baseball video games since All-Star Baseball on the Nintendo. I am such a stat nut that I used to actually play my own version of "franchise mode" before it was ever conceived on the actual games. Keeping my own records of how old players were, how many years they have played, and even conducting my own trades were just a few of the things I used to do while playing old ball games like Sports Talk Baseball and Tony LaRussa '95. (I know I'm pathetic)

With all the next-generation games, I no longer have to manually track everything as I had to do when I was younger, and thank goodness for that because I would be the most pathetic college student in the world if I had binder after binder of video game baseball stats.

Franchise mode is great but the one thing I would love to see within the next 2 or three years is baseball teams being sold and relocated. Of course this should not happen very often, every 5-10 years at the most but I think it would be awesome. WSB already acknowledges budgets and income which could be taken into account when a team was to be sold.

Another thing that goes right along with relocating is for SEGA or whoever it may be to include a stadium designer feature. I'm suprised we haven't seen this yet. That would be a feature that would put a game head and shoulders above the competition. Teams could also bid for new stadiums that are not relocating but are in need of a new facility.

I'm a Cubs fan and I love Wrigley field, but it won't be there forever. Think about how cool it would be to have the option of designing a new stadium for the Cubbies in 2005. Well, just an idea, thought I might throw it out there in hopes that I will see it one day.

Actually, the Cubs are have already begun plans for a new stadium. 2-3 year and Wrigley will, unfortunately be gone. The Cubs need it too, have you ever been to Wrigley, my God it's old!

That's one of the sweet features I've read about in ASB (had last year's, but not this year's), is that you can have new stadiums pop up years down the line (like a new Fenway, etc). Plus, if you start an expansion team, you can pick from a bunch of made-up stadiums that came with the game.

I'd love it if WSB added that next year.

Dude I am embarassed to admit it but I used to keep manual stats fro my players in both baseball and football games. Even back as far as Coleco Vision Double Play baseball and Bases Loaded 2.

                    Sad, but true

NIce not to have to do that anymore eh?

I used to be a Baseball Stars (NES) junkie. I remember it was the first game that you could go in and manually edit your players names. I had stats out the ying-yang for that freaking game.

I'm still a pretty huge loser when it comes to my stats for video games. I make sure I save (seperately on a different file) each season so I can go back and take a gander at which team was where in the standings, team stats and things like that.

I am also the most picky person on the face of the earth when it comes to jersey numbers. The only reason I did not buy World Series Baseball last year was because the computer did not change players numbers when someone was traded. As a result, you could have 2+ players with the same number, pretty stupid I thought.

Now, SEGA has allowed the user to change anything about any player on any team (hooray for SEGA and thank you!). But my madness doesn't end there. I make sure no team allows its players to wear jersey numbers that are retired by that team and as players enter the Hall of Fame on WSB I will be sure no one wears their numbers either.

I think I win the biggest loser award!
