I feel the same way. I much rather have the outcome based upon realistic attributes instead of whether or not I hit X at the right time. Does anyone here get even more stat-crazy and play strat-o-matic?

Re: OOTP 5 or WSB 2k3
About the only two things these games have in common is that they are based on baseball, but that's about it. The reason for owning each game is completely different. I like OOTP5, but i still get more joy out of actually playing the game. if i had to pick one, WSB. I'm glad i didn't have to pick one, and since they are far from competing products, there really is no reason not to own both if you have the $$$ to.Comment

I've always wanted to own the strat-o-matic board game. I used to see it at my cousins house when i was a little kid and was fascinated by all the stats and numbers. I still think i would pick up the board game if i could actually find it anywhere.Comment

With the ability to completely customize the leagues, the ability to import historical data, and online leagues, I think that OOTP5 probably has the longer replayability.5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays

Re: OOTP 5 or WSB 2k3
You know Strat-O-Matic has a web site you can go to. You can get the basic setup then pick card sets from just about any year you want. I blew it about a year ago, a local store had one in from the '98 season and I balked on it for a couple months, but when I decided to go get it it was gone. Damn, the '98 season with Mac and Sammy, my Pads in the series and that great Yankee team, i'm still kicking myself.Comment

Again, I like to play the roll of Manager. I also love having the results be based on real stats and attributes and not on my button pushing. Again, it's personal preference.

I totally agree, and as far as getting bored of OOTP, I have never played a baseball game on a console for more then a couple of months straight. I've been playing OOTP4 and 5 for the last 10 months, straight. I play at least an hour or two a day and its pretty common for me to go on 12 hour benders on nights that i'm "sick" and dont go to work. This game just has that much going for it in replay value that its hard to get tired of. Heck, I dont even do the play by play, I just sim. But, like someone mentioned before, if you dont care for stats and customization, this game may not be for you.Comment
