Signing Kenny Lofton to the BUCS????

Has anybody been able to sign K. Lofton to the Pirates in Franchise mode without cutting half the team?

I signed him and Reggie Sanders to the Pirates while updating the rosters and before starting the franchise that way he was already on the team.

Yes, but don't they still make you pay them once you start the franchise?
