I started a franchise with my Mets. (I'm playing on Pro with the default slider setting sso I can get used to the game, I am new to the WSB series. I plan to change the sliders once I am accustomed to the game though.)
Anyway I made some trades at first, and I admit that I made some pretty lopsided deals. I ended up getting Wade Miller, Adam Dunn and Furcal. Gave up guys like Burnitz, Larkin(who i got with Dunn), Cerda who I later got back, and some others.
So my first game is agains the Cubs. Leiter vs. Wood. In the 3rd I get one run. In the top of the 6th, Karros Sosa and Alou one after the other get hits, Leiter gets out of the inning giving up 3 runs. He leaves the game pitching 6 innings, giving up 3 runs, 9 hits, but getting 11 strikeouts. Roberto Hernandez, who I also traded for comes in and pitches well in the 7th, but in the 8th, gives up 2 more runs.
Bottom of the 8th, 5-1 Cubs. Dave Veres comes in for them. Furcal gets a hit. Weathers came in for Hernandez is out and Timo pinch hits, but gets nothing. Cedeno gets a hit Alomar gets a hit. Bases loaded. Piazza singles and gets an RBI. Floyd pops out with the bases loaded. Mo Vaughn singles, another one in. bases still loaded. 5-3, 2 outs, bottom of the 8th.
Adam Dunn comes up, gets walked, out comes Veres as he walks in a run, 5-4. Bases loaded.
Up comes Ty Wigginton, 2-4 on the day. Remlinger comes in for the Cubbies. Grand Slam for Wigginton. 8-5. Benitez comes in the top of the 9th. 3 pitches, 3 outs. Mets win 8-5.
So fun I can't even tell you. That game secured WSB2k3 for me.
