Sports Gaming Network Review....Fielding Issues Again?

Just finished reading the review of MVP at the Sports Gaming Network and the reviewer again rants about the CPU diving/jumping fielding issues. From what I have read here it isn't that big of an issue, so what gives? Has anyone had an outfielder go into a dive on a popout and miss the ball like these reviewers seem to have happen to them? Fielding really seems to be a game killer to these guys.

This has happened a few times to me, but it was due to the fact that I slightly over ran a few balls hit to Abreu. Luckily I'm smart enough and realized it was my fault. Now it doesn't happen.

Sure they could give you the option of manual diving, jumping etc.. but it's really NOWHERE NEAR as bad as some of these reviewers are saying.

I wouldn't call it a game killer, because the hitting/pitching is so amazing in itself. However, there are times when it can interfere with the integrity of the game you're playing. While some people here have stated that it's human error rather than a CPU one, I don't think its quite that easy. I've played about 30 games so far and have seen this happen:

-Computer dives unexplicably when not needed. This has only happened once to me, but obviously it will highly impact the outcome of a game.

-Balls will sometimes go right through computer controlled outfielders. This happens when you are not able to switch player control fast enough. This also impacts the game signficantly.

-Tagging issues are present. Even though they can be counteracted with different strategies (like moving the catcher toward the player at the plate), they still ruin the reality of the game. It is an error in the game, no matter how you look at it.

Overall, you might lose a couple games based on these factors alone. Depending on the frequency of these plays, you might think that its not worth it. However, I don't think they really take away from the overall enjoyment of the game. If you are looking for superb CPU AI then this is not the game for you anyway. It doesn't really have a high baseball knowledge that some other titles might have. But, that said, the batting/fielding and presentation are so impressive that it might not matter in the end.

I've never seen the computer dive and miss the ball. Its really not that big of a deal having the computer do it for me anywy. I thought it would hurt the gameplay but it really doesn't.

I\'ve seen it a few times

The most frustrating fielding bug that I've seen hasn't been reported anywhere else, but then again, it only happened to me once. On what should have been the 3rd out of my masterful sidestepping of a bases loaded jam, Ryan Klesko fielded a weak dribbler to first. I tapped O to flip it to Brian Lawrence at the bag, and it floated to his glove just like it should have. On contact with digital leather though, it rocketed up the line and into foul territory off of right field. I'm pretty sure three runs scored, but I can't be positive since I turned the system off in disgust.
