    Re: Perfect game

Why would the announcers say no hitter? Wouldn't they say a perfect game????

    </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />
A rod did bat 9th, I don't know why but he did I only faced 27 batters.

The announcers said when the game was over that Mussina has made history by pitching the ultimate game of his life, a no hitter.

Now guys don't be jealous, I was just sharing my great feat with you all.

Why in this world would someone want to lie over a stupid video game, anyway.

        Re: Perfect game

        ...."Legend
        Pitch speed: fast
        Bat cursor: very small
        strike zone: off
        variable pitching: medium
        pitch preveiw: off

        sliders

        cpu pitching ability: 80
        cpu batting average: 30
        cpu batting eyes (balls); 55
        (strikes); 55
        cpu throw stikes : 25
        cpu stealing: 459"............

Somebody help me out. You can't play on LEGEND and have your CPU sliders effect game play (except for the two MISC sliders you can adjust under the LEGEND default settings)

You have to play on CUSTOM to have your sliders impact the game. This is saying he played LEGEND and the custom sliders were set to effect the game. In fact, he played on LEGEND (the sliders he adjusted had no effect on the game play)

        Am I missing something?

Yes. You can play at any level with adjusted sliders. So if you made custom sliders you can play veteren WITH custom sliders.

                Skyboxer,

I'm looking in the manual and it doesn't say anything about this. It has a custom slider mode and the other modes of play, i.e., ROOKIE, etc.

I'm not doubting you, but it gives you an option to play on CUSTOM mode as well as ROOKIE, LEGEND, etc. If CUSTOM is a play mode unto itself then what level are you actually playing on. The manual really isn't clear. Maybe FatPitcher can tell us?

                    Re: Perfect game

I play on the default Pro setting and I have pitched two perfect games. Both were with Pedro Martinez. The first one I cheated for, just because I wanted to see what the announcers did if you pitched a perfect game. By cheating, I mean I pitched an inning, then saved. If someone got a hit, I Quit then loaded.

However, in my next start with him I faced the Blue Jays. In that one I pitched 10 perfect innings and struck out 16. I was pretty excited, then pissed off when I failed to score within the 9 innings. I finally did score when Nomar walked in the tenth with two outs off Kelvim Escobar. Then Manny singled and Garciapara went to third. Then Nixon doubled and Nomar scored but Manny was thrown out at the plate. The announcers screwed up when I did it and said "Pedro Martinez has just pitched a shutout!" Not including my "fake" perfect game, this is the third shutout I have thrown with Pedro. All of the others were rediculous 6 or 7 hitters so I never thought I'd actually throw a perfect game, but I guess I'm just learning how to pitch better. Soon the difficulty is being pumped up to All-Star. When that happens I'll probably kiss Pedro's WHIP of 0.70 and ERA of 1.39 away.

                        Re: Perfect game

Arghhhh!!! I just lost a perfect game for Oswaldo Perez in my fantasy draft franchise with the Orioles, in the third game of the first round of the playoffs. With one out in the ninth and a 1-2 count, I stupidly hung a curve to the (fantasy) Rangers' Kevin Young who doubled to the gap. Struck out the final batter for a one-hit shutout.

I should note that I also have Pedro on my Orioles fantasy side and had never come close to a no-hitter before this. I had been two-hit by the CPU earlier in the season.

The most intense game I've ever had in a console baseball title. The late innings were a white-knuckle affair. At one point in about the sixth innning, somebody took Perez deep to right center. It would normally have been well out, but there was a stiff wind blowing in from right that carried the towering fly back allowing Crawford to catch it against the wall. The announcers kept silent about the no-no until the ninth, when they said something about the Rangers not having reached base. I knew then they had jinxed the result.

I love this game, and am hopelessly addicted in a way previously only experienced with Winning Eleven 6 FE. I liked HH for the Xbox a lot, but WSB is the game for me for the long haul. The fantasy mode is a blast - I encourage folks to try it if they haven't already. The trade AI is great - it's been a real chore assembling a decent team given a late spot in the draft. I finally opted to play for the title this year by picking up a bunch of high-salary older guys on one-year contracts.
