    # of posts in ASB forum

I noticed that there are more posts in this form than the other 3 games. Did this game come out first, or is it more popular? Anyways, so far I've tried WSB and MVP (I started with WSB and exchanged it for MVP). So far, I like WSB better so I was going to take MVP back and repurchase WSB until I saw the number of posts here. It looks like it may be worth a shot before I settle with WSB. The only thing that kind of bugged me about WSB is the vaccuum effect with the ball. Sometimes it doesn't even look like it hits the bat or goes into a fielder's glove.

ASB has the vaccuum effect also. For manage only ASB is a great game. For normal play some prefer WSB and others ASB. It's a matter of taste, one isn't necessairly better than the other, both games handle things very different. Rent ASB and make up your own mind. Even if you end up not liking the gameplay it's worth a look to see all the extras, nifty little details and deep expansion/franchise mode.

ASB has the vacuum catches SOMETIMES, but if you control your fielders and line them up properly, it rarely happens. The thing I appreciate about ASB over WSB is the perception that the outfields are HUGE. When you get under the ball and lift it a bit to the OF, you still feel like you MAY have a chance for it to drop. Most of the time it is run down but, unlike WSB and the turbo speed outfielders, you notice the difference in speed of OF in ASB and it comes into play when coming in on short fly balls, chasing balls down in the gap, or trying to snap a ball that is going over your head to the wall.

I control my outfielders, I like the fact that the outfield is deep, so having fast guys is a must in the outfield. You could thank me for most of the posts here. Almost 4/10 of my posts belong here!

Just picked it up- i've played it for about an hour and have to say the hitting is a little strange. I've tried classic and normal cursors and they are extremely tough. Even on rookie. It seems like I have to swing as soon as it leaves the pitchers hand on a fastball (almost have to guess) otherwise I have no chance. Also, the ball doesn't seem to go in the proper direction- if I swing late, it seems like I still pull the ball. Anyone else notice this?

I like the graphics and all the other "little things", but I'm not sure about the batting yet.

YOu really have to practice and give it some time. Trust me. I am 30 games in and I just now got the hang of it. Just like real baseball you are pretty much looking for your pitch to hit until you have two strikes. Find the hitters hot zone and wait there. Be patient too, the cpu throw a lot of balls trying to get you to chase.

how do you know where the hot zones are? they are not marked red/blue. Can you tell when you are late on the pitch? Does the ball go to the opposite field?
