    I owned last year's version . .

And I don't have this year's . . but I'm happy for the people that do own it, because that must've cut 5-10 mins out of game time . .

Bah that sucks. They should have atleast left an option in it this year. That ruins the pitching element of the game basically....

Absolutely... how can any baseball game survive without including the thrill and suspense of the ball being thrown back to the pitcher?

And in another giant step backwards, this year's ASB, upon changing the infielders' positioning (say, to double play depth), they don't take ten seconds to actually run into position. Instead, their locations are instantly altered.

I mean, who could possibly want the benefit of quicker games at the cost of completely superfluous animations?

        [sarcasm mode now off]

They still take the time to change position on the XBox version. If you change to DP depth, for example, it takes a couple of seconds for the SS and 2B to shift.

Sadly... it doesn't cut 5-10 minutes off my games, I'm still averaging 40+ minutes per game.

Re: Something that was left out in ASB.

I too miss the catcher throwback. It's absence does not however save as much time as hoped because of the time it takes for the swing, follow-through, and stance reset. I didn't notice how long that transition took until I played WSB.

The WSB swing isn't as deliberate(it seems as though they are swinging plastic whiffle-ball bats), the follow through(fully getting the bat all the way around and slowly bringing it back)is much less pronounced and the batter "pops" back into the stance instead of taking the time to settle into the batting stance. This adds about 5-8 seconds per pitch to ASB's interface, which based on 125 pitches adds close to 20 minutes a game. So it seems the only way to really speed up the pace would be to make the batter animations faster (and less realistic) ala WSB.

So which is more important to you, immersion or efficiency?
