    comparing the big games

    I have played all three titles: hh2004 (pc), mvp2003 (ps2), wsb2k3 (ps2).
    Here's my two cents:

    1. High Heat
    Pros:
Plays like real baseball (pitcher-batter confrontation is unreal).
Mod guys (everything is getting updated, improving an already brilliant game).
    Improved graphics
Runs smoothly on my cpu (amd 1800mhz athlon, geforce 4 4200)
    Cons:
No mouse support (no a big deal to me, but huge to others)
Sound/atmosphere (weakest of the three games - by far)
No extras (old time stadiums, uniforms, etc...)
    Bottom line:
    Best baseball game on market.
    Score: 95/100

    2. MVP 2003
    Pros:
    Sound/atmosphere (spectacular)
Pitching meters (the work very well)
Surprisingly good gameplay (taking Triple Play into consideration).
    Cons:
Few extras (no in-game saves, no player editing, etc...)
It's just not High Heat, where gameplay is concerned.
    Bottom line:
Very pretty - wish I hadn't traded it in for wsb2k3. It was a nice console diversion.
    Score: 85/100

    3. WSB2k3
    Pros:
    Nice graphics
    Tons of extras
Most complete game of three in terms of gameplay modes, franchise, uniforms, stadiums etc...
They gave an option for cursor-less batting.
    Cons:
Horrible frame rate on ps2 (not sure what it's like on xbox)
Swing animation is just brutal (it looks like a broken swing, it doesn't have a natural feel to it at all)
Horrible camera angle options (it's almost impossible to play outfield defence properly)
Surprisingly dull sound/atmosphere (given that this game has a ton of extras, I'm surprised the sound/atmosphere is so dull)
Bottom line: If I could sell this thing tomorrow, I would. It's overrated. The frame rate and swing issues are intolerable. I already traded mvp for wsb2k3 at eb games, so I'm out of luck. I'm stuck with a game I don't want.
Score: 70/100 - The frame rate and batting animation issues kill this game for me.

I'm not an EA or High Heat fan boy (actually I'm a 37-year-old player). I just can't stand wsb2k3 and thought there should be some balance on the reviews. All I have seen are positive reviews, with no mention of the aforementioned points.

        Didn't get asb2004 - probably should have, wsb2k3 didn't cut it.

I have High Heat for PC and let me tell you.. the player animation is awful. The batting is good .. but the way the players move like insects is messed up. I also don't really enjoy the batting that much, and the graphics kind of suck. The sound also clips in and out. Many player stances are inaccurate..
I have to agree with you though that wsb batting motions and fielding cams are so bad. And they were the exact same last year. How does Sega not improve this? I seriously enjoyed Segasports more when it wasn't affiliated with ESPN. Their games seemed better.

no,u didn't need to get asb because it sucks. It would be my last pick of a baseball game. (out of asb, wsb, and mvp)
