You know it's only going to be All the "big names"

If Scott Rolen and/or John McDonald don't get a Gold Glove then there should be an investigation.

Yeah, John McDonald just screams Gold Glove after putting up incredibly average numbers while playing in less than half of his team's games.

Gold Gloves are ostensibly for play in the field. McDonald is probably the 3rd best SS in the league.

He played a whole 67 games there this year. And by average numbers, I meant average defensive numbers... didn't even consider the completely useless offensive "production." Even if he was a great defensive shortstop, the offensive black hole he creates would at least cancel his defense out.

Let's look at the stats. Omar Visquel, who by the way is 41 freaking years old, had a zone rating of .892 compared to McDonald's .844 at shortstop. Visquel played in just slightly more games.

Is this a joke? You seriously want an investigation if John McDonald doesn't win the gold glove? I realize the investigation part is a bit of hyperbole, but come on, McDonald played about the same number of innings at shortstop for Toronto as Marco Scutaro and David Eckstein. If you are being serious, this may very well be the most absurdly homeristic opinion of all time.

Yes it was hyperbole but he's often called one of the top Shortstops in the league and this isn't by Toronto announcers either. I watched 90% of Jays games via the opposing team's broadcast. That being said I realize I was a bit homerish in my post but keep in mind that Johnny Mac is a very sound defensive shortstop who should at least acknowledged a bit more. It's kinda like the whole Orlando Hudson thing where he should've gotten the GG in his last year in Toronto but he has to wait another year when he's on a US team and with more media exposure.

No need for an investigation I just like the guy a lot

However I'm deadly serious about Rolen.

Tons of announcers say Jeter is a great defensive SS also. Announcers are dumb.

I am sure that eventhough he deserves it (like last year) he won't get it (like last year), Brandon Phillips should grab the NL 2nd base Gold Glove.

You know A-Rod is going to get it. The voters look at basic stats, the person and the team.

                      - A-Rod has less errors.
                      - A-Rod had more total chances.
                      - A-Rod plays in New York.
                      - A-Rod is A-Rod.

Rolen should probably win it in a perfect world, he didn't play in a ton of games though and it's not like A-Rod had a bad defensive year. In fact he had a pretty damn good one.

115 games is "didn't play in a ton of games"?

QFT...71% of his teams games is a pretty high percentage.

yes it is... he missed over a quarter of the season. "a ton of games" would be at least 130 if not 140, ie a full season.
