    Playoff Predictions?

Anyone care to take a stab? Here's mine.

    NLDS:
MIL over PHI in 5 - If the pitching for Milwaukee can win one of the three games not started by Sabathia, I think having CC on the mound for game 5 gets the Brewers to the NLCS.
LAD over CHC in 5 - Dodgers' pitching (especially the bullpen) gives them the edge. Could go either way, though. If the Cubs win the series, I think they also will win in the NLCS before losing in the World Series.

    ALDS:
TB over CWS in 5 - White Sox might be riding a little momentum, but the Rays are definitely the better team
LAA over BOS in 4 - Boston is too banged up, and the Angels are the superior team.

    NLCS:
LAD over MIL in 6 - I don't think Milwaukee has the horses to get any further than this. Hopefully I am wrong, though.

    ALCS:
LAA over TB in 7 - Should be a good series (with some good storylines too). I think the Angels will ultimately prevail but it could go either way.

    World Series:
LAA over LAD in 6 - The all-LA world series goes to the Angels.

I definitely agree that most of the series are going to go the max number of games.

      Which is excellent.

                Re: Playoff Predictions?

I'll post this here even though I rarely post here.

The Angels, although are 100-62, they're Pythagorean W/L record is actually 88-74. What does that mean? Well, through luck/good fortune, they're actually 12 games better than they are statistically. Needless to say, that's an alarming sign for a team almost everyone figures will make it to the World Series.

Given that stat, I still think they'll beat the Red Sox, simply because they've owned them in the regular season (8-1) and Boston losing Beckett until Game 3 will hurt their chances.

The White Sox & Rays are very similar. They win with good pitching and timely hitting (see Jim Thome). I don't think experience will really play a factor in this series. Tampa will show up to play. I truly feel this series is a complete toss-up.

However, Tampa is a very, very patient hitting team and the White Sox aren't (9th in the AL in OBP, .333). That will play into who's pitching staff is more effective, which I think Tampa's will be because they'll play into the White Sox's weakness of impatience. Add to the fact that the Rays have the better bullpen (5th overall in MLB) and I think they have the slightest edge of the White Sox.

The Cubs & Dodgers is an interesting series. I'm a Cubs fan and we're clearly the favorites in the NL. Statistically we are the best overall team in the MLB, as the Cubs are 2nd overall in the MLB in Runs Scored and 5th overall in the MLB in Team ERA. The Cubs have it all, hitting, pitching. Our lone weakness is defense but I don't think that'll play a big factor until the playoffs wear on.

Even though the Dodger's offense has seen a considerable boost with Man-Ram's acquisition, they were still 30-24 after the Deadline.

In August, L.A. had a team OPS of .783
In September, L.A. had a team OPS of .815

To put those offensive numbers in perspective, the Dodgers team OPS in June was .644 (!!!)

Needless to say, Cubs should handle the Dodgers.

As for the Phillies & Brewers, this won't be close either. Because Sabathia has had to start on 3 days rest in 3 straight straights (and it'll be 4 straight when he starts Game 2), the Brewers really have nothing else to offer. Sheets is hurt. They have to throw out Gallardo in Game 1, and he's only had 4 starts all year. Needless to say, the Phillies should dispatch of the Brewers fairly easily. They're the better offensive team (9th overall in the MLB, compared to 17th for MIL), they're pitching is better (statistically Milwaukee is but Sheets is hurt), and they have the vastly better bullpen (1st in the NL/2nd overall in MLB).

                So with that said ...

Angels/Rays (toss-up, this series could go either way) & Cubs/Phillies

                Angels/Cubs

                TBD
