I think any baseball game can be too arcadey(if thats a word? arcadish maybe, anyway). If you always swing at the first pitch, you can turn HH into an arcade-type game.

Personally, Ive learned from playing people, that swinging at the first pitch in any game, is a sure fire way to defeat. I choose to wait for pitches, and it makes a better experience for me.

While MVP isnt the end all of baseball games, its a very good and solid title, and should be treated as such, despite any flaws that may appear.

Because, every game has flaws, every last stinking one of them. But, the developers work so hard, I can overlook minor flaws and work around them

I still can't understand how a joystick game can be a sim. These are all arcade games and what you do with the joystick is how the outcome is determined.

What's the fun in hitting 70 homers with Barry Bonds no matter how you swing the bat? Pitch the ball down the middle with RJ and still have 300+ k's.

What are you getting at? Are you saying that text based games are more sim, or games that dont use analog control?

Yeah, for the most part. If you want really accurate stats, a text game is the way to go. The fun with joystick games, is actually playing them.

Not saying you can't get good stats, heck High Heat proves that, but I find it funny when someone says one game is more of a sim than another. To me, it just means the game is more scripted than the other. Wouldn't someone who is better at MVP, have better stats than you (same exact teams)?

Joestros makes a good point that trying this flaw when you winning or losing the game when the cpu stops scoring? Can any of you guys have opinions on your experience on trying this flaw when you leading or losing a game against the CPU on allstar level (xbox version of MVP). If your winning when trying this flaw, did the CPU came back to tie and/or take the lead?

Mizzou, I totally agree with you. The game stops being a sim once you add the player having a direct effect on the outcome of every pitch.

And as for this "flaw". It's NOT a flaw. If anything, it's cheese. Pure, unadulterated, foul-smelling cheese.
