Joestros makes a good point that trying this flaw when you winning or losing the game when the cpu stops scoring? Can any of you guys have opinions on your experience on trying this flaw when you leading or losing a game against the CPU on allstar level (xbox version of MVP). If your winning when trying this flaw, did the CPU came back to tie and/or take the lead?

Why not just play the game as it's meant to be played?

I really like the game. Im playing my franchise on allstar with the Redsox. I;ve played 2 games and lost each 2-1. In my first game, Pedro struck out 7 and gave up 10 hits in 13 innings. Total hits per team was redsoxs 10..Tampa bay 8.

The second game, I got like 3 strikeouts in a 12 inning fest. Hits: 11 to 10. All the pitches were legit. No softstuff. I know you guys have heard it over and over, but working the corners really works with good pitchers.

I had the same success playing against the Angels and yankees on all star in a quick game...padro averaged 6 Ks.

I was playin WSB, but that game got on my nerves, going 0-8 against the CPU. I played with easy settings on WSB, but that was no fun...so I switched over to MVP, and I am having a blast. Definetly a fun game. I can see where the baseball "experts" dont like this game because it isn't a sim, just like I can't stand NBA Live. Luckily, I don't know much about baseball, and this game is very fun IMO.

I dont have the Xbox version, but tried the "Flaw" none the less, and it didnt work on Ps2, if that really means anything.

While the whole "Sim" topic is raised, I would have to disagree that an "immersive" game (non-text based) cant be a true sim. For that matter, neither can text based games.

                    I'll explain myself:

In a console game, your "job" is to be the hitter or pitcher or fielder. You have control of the players, who are supposed to play like their real world counterparts. While you have control over their actions, you are only playing as a visual representation of statistics, nothing more. All of their attributes make uo who their are on the field, these stats are trying to simulate the player in your game. All in all, its text based. In a good console sim, Mo Vaughn isnt going to steal 100 bases in 10 yrs, let alone 1. Fernando Vina is never going to hit 40 hrs either. And while the user has a significant amount of input, dont real players? Nobody tells Barry Bonds, your arm is a 75, your fielding is an 80, so therefore, you cant make this play, or that play. The players go out there, and they play, good or bad. They make great plays, and they make mistakes. They rob homers, diving catches, throwing errors, and so on an so forth. Console games let you do the same, and they do use a combination of user input and stats, but you are more the player than just a spectator.

                    Now the flip side:

In text games, while you sim games, and make GM decisions, see players grow, and try to put together the best bunch of players you can. However, you have virtually no on the field control. Human Error never plays a part in a game. You can never make a bad jump on a ball, you can never misdive, swing late or early. The game engine does it all for you. Based on stats, it decides when errors occur, when homers get hit or taken away. It decides on if the LF gets to the ball hit in the gap, or if it rolls by him and the hitter gets a triple. While, its is a "Sim" at heart, part of simulating sport is the human side of it. Because we humans play the games, we are not just numbers based from 0-100. We can change and get better or worse from day to day, week to week, month to . We, as humans, can misread the ball off the bat, get a bad jump, know that a fastball is coming, hustle a little harder to turn that gapper into a triple, position ourselves so that the ball doesnt get away from us, and lead to an error. With virtually no human input, text based games cant accurately incorporate the "humanity" of sport, where as console games do. Sometimes also, text based games feel scripted and dont have that errors are random, rather that they are "placed" there by the CPU for that moment. I know text based games give tons of options, both in-game and out of game, but it still lacks a true human component.

As a player of both text and console, I feel both have their pros and cons. I dont feel that one is "realer" than another, because they both have positive things to offer.

Playing VG's for 20(21) of my 24(25) humble yrs on mother earth, both PC and console, Ive seen games change from dots on a screen that were called "Baseball", to what they have evolved into today. I personally feel that there can never be a "true sim" in any sports game, because no game (as of right now) and accurate do these few things: (A) AI that acts like a human, and make human mistakes. (B) Accurately balance human error with gameplay. (C) Incorporate all variables that can take place in games, whether its something like; sun in a players eye, or a player slipping on the grass, or a player just being in a funk. Games try, but cant incorporate things like this, without looking like it was forced.

Anyway, theres my long a$$ post of the week. Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for a new episode of "MVP Baseball: The Series"

                        Too long for me!

Good post, but I still think arcade games are just that.

Anyhow, I'm 5 games out with the Cardinals in MVP, so the game has been one heck of a challenge so far.

Ok now lets go to a different topic now, and i need more peoples experiences on this. I want other people, who has MVP, for the Xbox, to do the following:

                            1) Try the pitching to middle of the plate method (see "HUGE FLAW" thread, http://forums.operationsports.com//u...o=&fpart=1 for more details) when you are ahead and see if the cpu scores runs.

                            2) Then try when you are behind and see what happens.

                            3) Then try a game when using this flaw to see if you have been blownout by the cpu.

ex: Like by 5-10 runs and etc

Remember use all of these methods while playing in allstar mode in the xbox version of MVP. and it must be used from the beginning (first pitch) through the end of the game (last pitch). NOT MIDDLE OF THE GAME. Thanks!
