My BoSox
What do all you guys think of the Red Sox this year...I know there are a lot of Yankee fans on this board so I will not get into any verbal sparring, I realize the Sox will probably take second in the east again...I'm just hoping the get the Wildcard spot.Tags: None -

Re: My BoSox
I like how the Sox look this year, the starting pitching is starting to scare me but the Dbacks won the world series with basically 2 starters and they had a much worse team than what the sox have this year. The bullpen will be solid and the offense will also be much better than last year. Winning the AL East doesnt look as hard as it has in the past, the yanks may have a great offense but their starting pitching is ridiculously injury prone and their bullpen is horrible and injury prone. If the Sox get another usual Pedro year (20 or so win 2.3 ERA and 250+ strikeouts) and if Lowe comes close to repeating what he did last year the sox will be in very good shape. Manny will have a huge year this year and Nomar should be back to around 30 HRs and hit .350. Walker is a great upgrade over Dirty offensively but a downgrade defensively but as long as his OPS is .775 or better it'll be worth it. I could go on but i dont really feel like it, bottom line is that the Yanks are more vulnerable this year than they have been in years and the sox are looking better than they have in years 100 wins and the Division title is very possible.Comment

Re: My BoSox
I like the Sox too this year for the Wild Card. They have 2 great starters in Pedro and Lowe, and a team with Nomar and Ramirez is a team that I'd hate to play. If they ever got a solid first baseman, a good closer, and some depth to their starters and bullpen, they could challenge the Yanks...Comment

Re: My BoSox
Well, i have high hopes for them this year. They clearly have a solid team, and if they can remain mostly healthy, will be in serious contention. It's just so unfortunate that we have to be in the same division as the Yankmees. I would love to see them win the division, but unfortunately, the Yanks look strong again. And who knows if they can take the wild card. I'd like to think so, but they had a pretty good year last year, and still nothing.
I'm a little concerned about Lowe. I don't know if he can have a season as good as he did last year. If we can get 18 or so wins out of him, i'll be very happy. And Fossum has had a disappointing spring - i hope he can get over these issues by the time the season starts.
It should be an exciting year though. I think they have a lot of good things going for them. I just hope they can take advantage of them all.
One interesting thing i've noticed, that in all of the baseball games i've played this year (ASB, MVP, WSB, OOTP), i've simmed a season just to get a feel for the stats, and in all of them, the Sox won the division, and i think made it to the series. According to OOTP, yesterday and today's spring traaining games were a preview of the world series! Here's to hopingComment

Re: My BoSox
I think the Red Sox win a lot in sim video game seasons because of their pitching. On paper, they do have a great staff and Pedro in a video game is simply amazing (just like real life, minus the shoulder trouble). Lowe also has a relatively high rating along with Wakefield and there's 3 right there....Obviously, real life is much different, but I hope the Sox do well this year - as long as they don't beat my A'sComment
