I got the game 3 days ago after reading posts about how fun the game is...
and all i have to say is damn u guys were right this game is so addictive and its hard. I love no cursor batting. I just returned WSB for it and dont get me wrong I think sega made a fine game in WSB...Great graphic, sick detail, smooth animations, good lookin stadium and crowd atmosphere. But just like nfl2k3 they forgot to factor in the fun when they designed it. I understand people want to play simulations and I am one of them. I usually go for the best sim on the market. This year I got tired of jsut playing a sim with the same old gameplay and that is why I went with MVP. I am glad I did. I am in no way dissing WSB or nfl2k3, well except that they forgot to put a running game in nfl2k3 and I think it is getting less fun each year. Ea sports does a solid job with fun factor in there games especially this year and this is coming from someone who has all there sports games this year. But anyway I had to get that off my chest. I am havin a blast with mvp now although i was concerned about the homers, the player models are bettter and the atmosphere is insane (crowd chants, etc.). I am def stckin w mvp hopefull for years to come as well. Ive played 3 games and if it wasnt for school work Id still be goin. I won my second game 4-0 against the angels and thought i had already mastered it. Spoke to soon, the next one i got killed 8-1 by the bluejays. Damn what a game.Tags: None -

Well I too read posts when the game was first released and thought this game was going to be a real competitor to WSB and High Heat this year. I have always been an EA Sports fan over Sega Sports forever. I never liked Triple Play and was hesitant on buying this game, so I waited to rent it. I borrowed my friends WSB game from last year on XBOX and thought that was the best baseball game ever! So I bought WSB 2K3. Good thing I did!.
EA Sports did a nice job "trying" to rebuild the Triple Play series from the ground up. There are very nice player graphics and good stadium detail unlike the other sports games they build nowadays...(NBA Live, NHL 2003). There are a lot of positives and a lot of negatives depending on what type of gameplay you like. I personally like a realistic game that doesn't feel like an arcade game. This game definately is more arcadish than WSB, ASB, and High Heat. The things I disliked about the game was the throwing meters on fielders, the crowd animations and pitching.
The crowd has the worst graphics I have ever seen in a sports game on any of the newer consoles. EA put forth no effort is making people look realistic at all! This is important to me to get an overall feel for a sporting event atmosphere. All of these baseball games should lookup Midway and give them a call. Midway's games are the funnest arcade games ever and deliver an unbelievable atmosphere for crowd animations. The throwing style for this game also irritates me. Why do I have to wait for a meter to go all the way up to throw ever ball? And they all throw in a sideways animation. Arrrggghhh!!! Don't get me wrong, this is a semi-fun game and will be a lot better in years to come with the new developers in place, but is no comparison to WSB in graphics, animations, detail or realism. It does, however, beat the hell out of ASB 2004's gameplay and High Heat's playstation one graphics that totally ruins the game. And I don't think I need to mention 989 sports sorry attempt to keep making games! If I had to list the games 1-5, it would be...
1. WSB 2K3
2. MVP Baseball 2003
3. ASB 2004
4. High Heat 2004
5. 989 Sports game

you can turn the visual of the throwing meter off (so you don't see it)
the throwing meter is the same as throwing a passing in MADDEN. the longer you hold it, the harder the throw, except in MVP, you can see it....I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...Comment

It is exactly for the graphics! Why go out and buy a $200 system that takes full advantage of modern day graphics processors and play a PS One graphics engineered game. I also only spend $50 on a game when it looks like the company put forth full effort in making their product. It it just like buying MLB 2004 to me. You know year in and year out, 989 will not put out a quality sports game...its a no-brainer. That is also why I have fallen out of love with EA's basketball and hockey titles.Comment
