Little Dumpy Hits by the CPU

I am playing on All-Star level and have the CPU batting to 25 and they keep getting these little dumpy hits just out of reach of my fielders and then the outfielders can't cut the ball off and it rolls to the wall. I love it when the opposing pitcher gets a triple on a ball that lands 10 feet behind second base and trickles to the wall. Can I jump for the ball with my 2B while he's in motion or does he have to be still? Does jumping help? Please help, this would lower the CPU's hits under 14 a game and that would make this game great!
    THANKS
    bob

ONe of the things you can try is the angle you send your outfielders on. I found in the beginning I was running in straight towards the balls hit in the gaps. Now I'm taking more of an angle away from the ball and towards the wall cutting them off. You can jump with the XBOX using the right shoulder button.

I think the problem may be your pitching. Here is a hint- never throw a pitcher a strike unless you have too- generally yhey will chase anyhting- esp. breaking balls low and away.

I have this same problem. I give up more little bloop hits than I care to count. It drives me nuts. I'd play shallow except that they'll probably start putting them over my head. What I notice is that by default, my outfielders seem to play way back. Does anyone know if the default is deep? Even on non-power hitters, it seems like my outfielders are playing way back.
