Does changing the difficulty make it easier, or does all of the difficulty come from the sliders?

Frankly, once you start using custom sliders then the difficulty level doesn't apply much. That applies more to the other settings (cursor size, strike zone on/off, pitch preview, etc.). Those are more like pre-sets, with certain combinations of sliders and the options I just mentioned.

I use custom sliders with the strike zone turned off (so I can't see where the pitch is relative to the strike zone), no pitching cursor, no vibration, with medium pitch variation and a small batting cursor. I've found this to be challenging, but not frustratingly so. I'm getting pretty accurate results, too.

Dude, go back to timed hitting and turn the pitch preview option on. You will get more hits if you are selective enough.

I would go back to High Heat, but after seeing WSB's Graphics and features...I just can't...I guess I can try and get use to MVP

This seems like the Bizzaro World complaint of : "This game sucks! It's too easy! No, I never took it off Rookie."

No, it doesn't. Once you get the Timed Hitting feature down, which takes no time at all for an experienced gamer, it's easy to get hit after hit after hit....well, you get it.
