I don't know anything about baseball...

I have never played a baseball game in my life and I don't know a thing about baseball, but I am really enjoying WSB 2K3...My question is, in what instances is pitching a slider a good idea. Against what kind of batters? Remember, I am not a baseball junkie, but I am going to get more into baseball since I purchased this game.

It's good to pitch a slider down and away when your ahead in the count. When it's 0-2 or 1-2 pitch ti down and away almost out of the bottom of the strike zone. Most batters will chase the pitch and miss. A few will make contact but usually its a ground ball to third/first depending if the batter is righty/lefty.
Make sure your pitcher isn't tired though because he could hang the slider in the middle of the plate and get hurt.

I also like to use the slider down and in with a lefty pitcher against a right hitter, or a righty pitcher against a lefty hitter. It really can handcuff the hitter, and if you miss your spot, you miss inside, so that the ball is not hung out over the plate.
