Moneyball being made into a movie?

    Brad Pitt as Billy Beane?

Odds that Joe Morgan thinks Billy Beane made this movie?

    Hmm...Could work.

Just hope they don't include the lop-sided trade of Mark Mulder for Dan Haren, D. Barton and K. Calero.

    Btw, Go Cards. haha

Is "Moneyball" that interesting enough to be made into a movie? I find that kind of hard to believe. I thought the book was great but I'm a stats analysis junkie and a sports nut. Chicks taking in this movie just to see Brad Pitt would probably fall asleep.

Great, hopefully it show how two-faced these so-called moneyball geniuses are.

I was about to post about this but saw someone beat me to it...

I have no idea how this could possibly be made in to an interesting movie. I mean.... wtf?

The book was phenomenal but this doesn't seem like the type of writing that would translate well to the big screen.

This will be awesome. Sabermetrics as a movie. Just what the world needs.

I wonder who'll play John Schuerholz.

Probably James Earl Jones reprising his role as Darth Vader.

How can you make Money Ball into a movie? That seems nearly impossible to me.

Like most movies that cover books, I'll bet that a lot of the facts are skewed for entertainment purposes.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Paul Depodesta had one bad season, and was run out of town by hacks like Bill Plaschke continuosly referring to him as "google boy".

I would really like to see what he could do if given another opportunity, but that seems highly unlikely.

And though Theo might be a disciple of Billy Beane's ideology, he still has alot more money to play with which obviously helps out alot.

Looks like this might actually happen.

UPDATE: Sony sources tell me that the studio expects Major League Baseball to be on board with the version that will go into production. (MLB previously had approved the Steven Soderbergh version.) It will be formally submitted to MLB in the next week or two.
