I heard that stealing is easy and if so do any of you impose self limitations in the department of stealing or do you just go ahead and steal at will? I know in ASB2004 I never steal because even with the slowest runner I can easily steal if the pitcher goes into a full wind up.

Deadhorse, I know this has been anwered a lot, but let me just give you a bit of help.
1. If you play the game keep your runner at the default lead. Don't take the extra leads. Note: I agree with the above poster, when I take the extra lead I get picked off a lot, so I leave it.
2. You can edit catchers arm and accuracy ratings (bump them up a bit) and that seems to help.
3. Steal when you normally would in a game and "not at will". This is a pretty solid game. Not perfect, but a good, fun game.Comment

I get picked off and caught stealing a LOT. Guys, remember that the average catcher throws out a runner about... oh a good 23% or so. So, most likely, you will get about 4 swiped bags every 5 chances.

I was finding myself constantly getting picked off as well. So i just take the default lead and I am still seeing runners gunned down at 2nd. The slower runners definately wont always make it to 2nd. I even had Ichiro nailed on a default lead the other day.
I think it goes both ways since the AI was running hard on me in a game today. They were stealing like crazy, even stole 3rd twice. Totally caught me off guard. Got beat because of their aggressive baserunning.Comment
