    How do you hit?

I am torn between using Power Swing and regular swing. How do you swing? Do you decide depending on the batter?

Also, do you use the Power Pro setting for swinging? How is that different from cursor?

I use cursor hitting, not Power Pro.

As far as regular hitting vs. power hitting, I let the situation (count/batter/pitcher/score) decide which I go with.

Generally speaking I let players like Vlad Guerrero and Brian Giles have two strikes with the power swing, but once the it is a two strike count I go to regular swing.

However if the game is close and I need a hit, I usually go with regular to make contract.

Ok, so to add onto my original post:

        - Do you think power/regular changes your chances for contact? I know in 2K2 the cursor got small when swinging for power, but this year it doesn't.

Has anyone tested this to see what happens? Or does the manual say?

I could be wrong, but I believe WSB did not have a power swing.

Either way, the manual explains the difference between the two. The cursor does get smaller with the power swing and your chances of popping up/grounding out/missing goes up. Likewise, if you connect, you have a better shot of an extra base hit.

WSB kinda had a line drive hit kinda thing... you had to hold onto the R trigger before he pitched it, and then your hitter's cursor would get smaller if your cursor is closer to the ball. If you hit it, you will have a better chance of getting on base because it was a hard line drive hit. That's how I got more home runs on last year's version.

With my Cubs, I let the situation decide, with one exception: Sosa. Generally, the only time I have him 'contact' swing is if I have 2 strikes (maybe) or he is in a batting slump (0-8,9,10, etc.).

I think the manual says somewhere that your chance for contact goes up with a contact swing vs. power. I know with V. Guerruro (sp!) I use power all the time and have been popping it up lots! I have to lay off it for a while to get his average back up.....

Though last night he cranked one over the left field wall for a 2 run shot. man, that was sweet....... I'm not much of a baseball freak in real life, but I always seem to need to play a video game every year..... WSB feels good to me after the slider tweaks and all! (that sounded kinda dirty, didn't it?

I usually use power swing until I get 2 strikes, then I use contact. Unless its 2 outs and no one on base, then I use power swing throughout the whole at bat.
