WSB kinda had a line drive hit kinda thing... you had to hold onto the R trigger before he pitched it, and then your hitter's cursor would get smaller if your cursor is closer to the ball. If you hit it, you will have a better chance of getting on base because it was a hard line drive hit. That's how I got more home runs on last year's version.

Yep, this is exactly what I was talking about....but now I can't remember if this was in last years version or in the Dreamcast version. Either one, it was a technique I used, but yes, it made the cursor smaller and harder to hit.

    Thanks for the input everyone.

With my Cubs, I let the situation decide, with one exception: Sosa. Generally, the only time I have him 'contact' swing is if I have 2 strikes (maybe) or he is in a batting slump (0-8,9,10, etc.).

I do the same, and also do this with Alou. Only times I use the contact with Sosa is if it's a close game and I have runners in scoring position, or if he leads off and gets behind in the count and I want a runner on base for Alou.

i am deciding on which game to get. I have heard that wsb has all these types of swings interface but is it like asb when u turnedoff the cursor and just play see the bal lhit the ball. i hate cursor hitting having to move the cursor to be able to hit.

I fluctuate b/t power and contact depending on who the player is. If they strike out a lot and have some pop...like Jose Hernandez or Sosa...I use power throughout the AB. Player has no power...then only contact. I still haven't been able to figure out what to do with players who have no pop but K a lot...but I usually just go with contact, and figure the size of the cursor helps them K more. Not that I like K'ing.
