24 K's in 15 IP's? Maybe on the PC version with the edited Stamina numbers.

Re: Post Your Best Pitching Performance Here !!!

I don't expect anyone to believe it or not, but it happened, and this thread was for such games, so there it is. No, it was the PS2 version, so I didn't do any modifications to anything, it was all real. When your pitcher gets tired, your green effectiveness bar shrinks to nothing, but that doesn't mean you can't keep going. You just can't throw the pitches as hard. If you'll notice, even if you have no green effectiveness zone left, if you throw the pitch at half power or so, you'll still get a nice sized green bar to throw in.

In a 0-0 tie in the 10th, I figured "What the hell, I'll just leave him in and see what happens"... That's when I learned about keeping the pitch meter down so I can still hit my spots without giving a tipoff. Even with little or no effectiveness on the pitchess, you can still send guys down swinging as long as you don't tip them off. I was still getting strikeouts in the 14th with high cheese out of the zone, or catching them looking on a slider down in the corner. Granted, they gave me a few scares getting runners to 2nd and 3rd a couple times, some long fly balls (Bautista actually had to scale the wall to pull one back in the 8th), etc, but I just pitched my way out of it.

So you don't need to cheat in any way to pull it off. Most people seem to think their pitchers have two modes.. 1. Balls to the wall.. and 2. Take him out when he can't do it anymore. Just play it smart. When you start to get tired, don't try and throw 97mph heat and yank him if you can't place it. Just play it realistically.

I agree with Falcula, I've pitched Brad Radke into the 11th inning before I took him out and he's only got a stamina 77.

In real life I have no doubt that Randy Johnson could actually pitch 15 innings and he'd probably have 20+ strikeouts too. If you've ever seen him pitch in the 9th you know that he's throwing harder then than he was at the beginning of the game.

Re: Post Your Best Pitching Performance Here !!!

By the time I hit extra innings in that game, I was topping off my fastballs at about 89mph. It was too risky to throw it harder because of his fatigue. Tipping off a pitch to Green or Lo Duca is a really bad idea in a 0-0 game, so I just played it safe. Granted, most of my K's were earlier in the game, but I still got a few near the end. No BB's or HB's in 15, 10 hits... that makes 55 batters faced with 24 K's. 43.6 % SO ratio (less than 2 per inning). Not totally unrealistic, especially for Randy.

I think I'll play game 2 here soon with Schilling and see what happens. Hopefully my bats will wake up and extra innings won't be necessary. I struck out a few times too many myself that game. Like I said, first try at Pro difficulty, so the change in pitch speed had me totally off my game.

Game 2 was a little better all around. My bats got hot a couple innings and I won it 7-0. Finley had another solo jack, as did Gonzo, both into the pen in right at the BOB.

                  Schilling vs L.A.

                  9 innings, 0 runs, CGSHO
                  3 hits
                  0 walks
                  16 K's

They ruined my no-hitter in the fifth.....

Brad Radke lost a no hitter with 2 outs in the 8th, ended up with 9 IP 2 H 0 ER 8 K, not too shabby.

Opening Day perfect game by Kerry Wood against Glavine and Mets. He struck out 11 while only giving up one flyout.
