I agree for the most part, but my opinion has nothing to do with the strike. Fox and MLB have done everything possible to drag the games and series on way too long for me. Baseball games are already long and slow enough, especially to casual fans, and they are just longer and slower when October rolls around.

A perfect example of how MLB has screwed things up is the post season awards. It's now November, the NFL season is over half way over, the NBA and NHL seasons have already been going for a week or more and MLB is just now handing out the gold glove awards. Which means next week will be Rookies and Managers of the The Year and the week after that will be MVP and CY Young. So basically almost two months after the regular season ends, the awards, which were voted on almost two months ago will finally be announced...and by then nobody will care.

The MVP award should be a big time award for the winner and in the middle of November, it will be an after thought. I just don't understand the logic behind this.

I don't see why awards can't be announced right in the week of the World Series, game 1, get all the ROYs, MVPs, CYs announced right there and right now and have the winners accept them, let the fans give them a round of applause, problem solved.

It's better to hold it in the biggest stage in baseball rather than just some 2pm news conference.
